You will meet dark dancing forces haunting a young reindeer
herder, young girls departing on a dangerous hitchhike and a
man who escapes emotionally from his sick wife.
You will hear the healing voice of ancestors and you will
aggravated by a true story of priests burning Sami hats. You
will be astonished by impossible love, divided by the forces of
nature and finally entertained by a rebellious political comedy
about a Sami uprising.

ABOUT THE FILM:
Mikkel is a reindeer herder who has the entire
responsibility for the herd of his family. He has a
tough shell like a sámi bojá should have. But in his
inside there is chaos.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:
Elle Sofe Henriksen, born 1984, is from Kautokeino,
Norway. Elle Sofe works with dance, choreography
and film. SÁMI BOJÁ is her third short film. Her
earlier films are THE YOIKING HAND (2011) and
BIEGGA SAVKKALA (2006).
Elle Sofe graduated with a master’s degree in
choreography from Oslo National Academy of the
Arts in 2010. Since she has been developing her
unique style in film and dance. Themes in her work
often relate to traditional Sámi culture, told in an
experimental, authentic and original way.

ABOUT THE FILM:
The midnight sun is shining; two teenage girls
are bored of their small little village. They want
some adventure, so they decide to hitch hike
somewhere else - not without risks.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:
Marja Bål Nango is the youngest edition of
directors in Sámi Film Lab. She has
studied film for four years in Lillehammer,
Kabelvåg and Kautokeino. Her films have
been screened at various film festivals and art
exhibitions around the world. Her graduation film
“BEFORE SHE CAME AFTER HE LEFT” won best film
by young director at ImagineNative Media Arts
Festival in Canada. HILBES BIIGÁ is her 10th short
film she has directed since year 2011.
ABOUT THE CO- WRITER:
Smávut Ingir Bål has graduated Author Studies
for
Children and Young Adults’ Literature at The
Norwegian Institute of Children’s Books. She
published in 2013 “Liane’s monologue” in the book
“She said” with other writers.

ABOUT THE FILM:
ELLOS SÁPMI is the story of the charismatic womanizer
Klemet, whose leadership is deprived and who is
betrayed by his own people. Naked hippie ladies, sex
and bombs adorn this rebellious comedy, revealing
the truth about what really happened when the
first, Sami Parliament was formed. Ellos Sápmi is one
revolutionary depiction of a historical event, based on
a true story of no less than Niillas A. Somby, who also
is the co-writer.

Idivuoma in northern Sweden, he passed film school
in New York and runs his own company. Idivuoma is
a versatile artist, other than movies he also plays in a
band, illustrates and works for radio and TV.

Májjen carries a very special hat. All the women
in her tribe wear this hat. It´s shape resembles
a horn. The hat is of great value for her. But the
men representing the church mean the hat has a
likeness to the horn of the devil itself. So the hats
must be extinguished.

Elle Márjá Eira (1983) a director, producer and
artist from Kautokeino, Norway. She has grown
up in a reindeer herder family. She is a skilled
children’s TV producer and director for NRK Sápmi
(The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation). Last
TV series is SEARAT (2014) and “MELKEVEIEN”
(2014). She has also directed the music video

ABOUT THE FILM:
A woman and a man, a river keeps them
separated. They have to break the laws
of
nature to come close to each other. A
simple story about love that defies cultural
differences.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:
Ann Holmgren grew up in Lapland in
northern Sweden with a Sami mother
and Swedish father. She worked as a
photographer and published two novels
before she started directing films. She
graduated from the Norwegian Film
School in 2008 and her graduation film
was
awarded best short film at Brooklyn
International Film Festival and St. Petersburg
film Festival. Since then she has made a
feature- length documentary, HOLD ON
HALLELUJAH, art films, given birth to two
children and is currently looking forward to
directing her first feature fiction film.
EDITH & ALJOSJA is based on the same main
characters as her feature script, developed
with the support of Norwegian Film Institute
and International Sami Filminstitute.

Grandmother and Áile are close to one another
and Grandmother teaches Áile the powers of
Nature and healing, however Áile has a secret that
puts their bond to the ultimate test, forcing Áile to
open up, but can she save their relationship?
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:
Silja Somby is graduated from Lillehammer
College with a BA in directing. She has
been directing two short fictions and short
documentaries as well as fiction for children for
the Norwegian Broadcasting Cooperation. She has
directed educational documentaries, as well as
managing numerous film workshops for children
and youth.
She is currently working on her first feature film
SÀRÀKKA and she recently completed a fictionial
TV series for children in a writing team. Presently
she is working on numerous projects.

THE AFFLICTED ANIMAL
ABOUT THE FILM:
A young girl seeks help for her afflicted dog, but
other members in her family need more help.
The mother is lost in her own mind, the father
wants to cure his loneliness and the girl is
searching for truth. The film takes place in
small Sami home in a remote area in Northern
Norway and portrays a dysfunctional relationship
between father and daughter.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:
Sami director Egil Pedersen grew up in a small
village far up north in Norway. He made his
first
films, Lego and clay animation, as an early
teen with his father’s Super 8 film camera. He
graduated from the Norwegian film school
in
2002. Since then he has been developing different
unique ways of eye-catching storytelling using
absurd humour, disturbing moods, visual effects,
majestic images and is still looking for the next
twisted idea.
