Lord, Aeck, and Sargent, Atlanta
Visited for an externship in January 2012. I participated in the wrap-up of a
Yellowstone National Park project and created print-outs for potential clients.
EcoMOD/Albemarle Housing Improvement Program (AHIP)
This year I have been developing strategies for fixing low income housing and
making them more sustainable and affordable in areas of Charlottesville. Along with
that, our team’s goal is to produce educational packets about the work AHIP does as
well as help them referbish their financial plan. I made a video for a grant documenting ecoMOD’s projects and participants over the past 6 years.
Earl Swensson Architects, Nashville
Visited for an externship in January 2011. Sat in on meetings with
engineers on the athletic fitness center at Brentwood Academy as well as visiting sites
and past projects in Nashville.
Fairfax County Public School Foundation for Applied Technical Education (FATE)
In 2008 in high school I had the greatest job I could imagine at the time. I
worked at a contruction site and learned to do everything from dry-wall to tiling to trim
and from flooring to some plumbing. The job gives me the construction perspective of
my architectural designs and has rooted in my heart my passion for architecture.
Alpha Delta Pi Sorority
Being a sister and active member of the first sorority and women’s secret society has given me leadership experience and grace under pressure. I have been closely
involved with PR, marketing, large social and charity event planning, public relations,
ceremonial responsibilities, and team building. Currently I am Alumnae Relations
Chair. I am also on the Kitchen Re-design Committee.
Habitat for Humanity
I have participated in many building projects and this spring break I am going
to Rocky Mount, NC to help build a house.
For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Robotics
Competition.
The program is geared to teach and encourage science, technology, and
engineering in high school students. Teams get 6 weeks after the challenge is announced to design, build, test, and ship a robot. My team won the DC regional
in 2009. I continued to mentor the team at UVA.
ACE Mentorship Program
In 2009 I worked closely with area architects on a thought project about parks
and presented it at the AIA in Washington, DC. I got to visit the Dulles construction site
with an architect and the construction manager and it was a rewarding experience.
