Konsthantverkscentrum (KHVC) är en länk till det främsta
inom svenskt konsthantverk. Vi representerar cirka 800 professionella konsthantverkare från hela Sverige. Vår uppgift är
att ge råd, informera och skapa kontakter. Vi har representanter i Stockholm, Göteborg, Malmö och Örebro.

Konsthantverkarna presenteras med bilder på produkter och
genomförda uppdrag. Där finns adresser till deras ateljéer,
webbutiker och utställningar. Aktuell information om våra
egna och andras arrangemang som marknader, mässor, kurser
och utbildningar finns också att tillgå.

All about Swedish crafts – see, learn and buy
Konsthantverkscentrum (The Crafts Center – KHVC) is a link
to the finest in Swedish crafts. We represent about 800 professional craft artists from all Sweden. Through our representatives in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö and Örebro we
provide advice and information, as well as establish contacts.
Our hub is www.konsthantverk.info where the craft artists
are presented with pictures of their products and commissions. There are addresses to their studios, web shops and
exhibitions. You will also find current information about our
(own) and others arrangements like fairs, exhibitions, workshops, courses and educational programmes.

CRAFTS
A FAR-RANGING WORLD
Konsthantverkets röda tråd är materialet, dess förvandling
och förädling; att ett och samma material kan resultera i så
fullständigt olika slutresultat. För vissa utövare spelar materialet en huvudroll i skapandet, för andra är det enbart ett
hjälpmedel att berätta en historia. Som konsthantverkare är
man ofta sin egen i skapandets alla beslut; från idé till genomförande, tillverkning och försäljning. Exklusivt och unikt!
Central to crafts is the material, its shaping and refining, as
well as the fact that the same material can give such different
final results. For some (artists) the material plays a main part
in the process of creation and to others it is only the means
for telling a story. Craft artists are often the ones who make
all decisions during the creation process; from idea to implementation, manufacturing to sales - exclusive and unique!
KHVC – en resurs att räkna med
Vi förmedlar lämpliga kontakter med konsthantverkare. Arkitekter, inredare, butiker, inköpare och privatpersoner kan få
råd och tips om konsthantverkare som passar deras behov.
Företag, skolor, konstföreningar och gallerier kan genom oss
hitta utställare, föredragshållare och ateljéer som är intressanta att besöka. I samarbete med Arvinius förlag publicerades guideboken 247 svenska konsthantverkare. Där presenteras konsthantverkare från hela landet i ord och bild.
KHVC – a resource you can count on
We mediate useful contacts with craft artists. KHVC provides
advice and information to architects, decorators, stores, purchasers and private persons about craft artists who suit their
needs. Through us companies, schools, art societies and galleries can find exhibitors, lecturers and studios that are interesting to visit. We have published the book 247 Swedish
Craft Artists in collaboration with the publisher Arvinius. In
this book we present craft artists from the whole country in
word and picture.

SKAPAR
OCH MEDVERKAR I UTSTÄLLNINGAR
KHVC har genomfört många utställningar, ofta i samarbete
med andra arrangörer. Vår kunskap och erfarenhet finns till
förfogande både vad gäller innehåll och program. Vi medverkade i Sakernas tillstånd, Kulturhuset i Stockholm 2009
där KHVC producerade katalogen och stod för programverksamhet under hela utställningsperioden. 100 tankar om konsthantverk, som hade premiär under Designåret 2005 och
sedan turnerade över hela Sverige, visade 150 jurybedömda
verk av 100 konsthantverkare. Den gjordes i samarbete mellan Riksutställningar, KHVC, och KIF för att visa konsthantverkets mångfald. Utvalt - svenskt konsthantverk var en
jurybedömd mönstring av svenskt konsthantverk som gjordes
i samarbete med Svensk Form. Urvalet visades i utställningsform på flera platser i landet.

KHVC has produced several exhibitions, often in collaboration
with other arrangers, putting our knowledge and experience
regarding both contents and program to work. We participated in Sakernas tillstånd (The State of Things), Kulturhuset in
Stockholm 2009, where KHVC produced the catalogue and
the programme during the entire duration of the exhibition.
In 100 Thoughts about Craft, which made its first appearance
during the Design Year 2005 and later toured all over Sweden.
150 works produced by 100 craft artists were shown and
judged by a jury. The exhibition was arranged in collaboration
with Swedish Travelling Exhibitions, KIF (the Craftsmen and
Designers' Organisation) and KHVC and aimed at showing the
great diversity of craft.
Utvalt – svenskt konsthantverk (Selected – Swedish Crafts)
was a scrutiny of Swedish craft judged by a jury and done in
collaboration with Svensk Form (the Swedish Society of
Crafts and Design). The selection was shown at many locations
in Sweden.

Galleri KHVC
I Örebro driver vi en utställningslokal där vi visar såväl separata som tema och konceptuella utställningar med våra medlemmars arbeten. Minst åtta utställningar per år produceras.
Mässor, marknader och evenemang
Vår och höst erbjuds KHVCs medlemmar plats på designoch presentmässan Formex i Stockholm och en gång om året
deltar vi i Stockholm Furniture Fair och EUNIQUE i Karlsruhe. Vi arrangerar också årliga marknader med högklassigt
konsthantverk, bl a UNIK FORM i Skåne och UPMARKET
under Kulturkalaset i Göteborg.

Gallery KHVC
We run an exhibition hall in Örebro where we arrange solo
exhibitions, as well as thematic and conceptual ones showing
the works of our members. We arrange at least eight exhibitions a year.

Exhibitions, fairs and events
Every spring and autumn we offer our members a place at
the Formex design and gift fair in Stockholm and we participate each year in the Stockholm Furniture Fair, as well as in
EUNIQUE in Karlsruhe, Germany. Furthermore we arrange
annual fairs with high-class crafts. Some examples are UNIK
FORM in Skåne and UPMARKET during the Gothenburg
Culture Festival.

BAKGRUND OCH FAKTA OM KHVC
Stiftelsen Konsthantverkscentrum grundades 1990 av KIF
(Föreningen Sveriges Konsthantverkare och Industriformgivare). Verksamhetens mål är att bredda marknaden för det
högkvalitativa konsthantverket och därmed förbättra konsthantverkarnas ekonomiska villkor. Verksamheten finansieras i
huvudsak via ett årligt bidrag från Statens Kulturråd. KHVC
är Sveriges representant i WCC - World Crafts Council och
ingår i såväl europeiskt som nordiskt nätverk kring området.
Medlemskap
Idag är cirka 800 professionella konsthantverkare anslutna
till KHVC. Kandidatexamen från någon av högskolorna inom
området eller motsvarande utländsk utbildning ger rätt till
omedelbart inträde. Det gör även medlemskap i någon av
branschens etablerade yrkesorganisationer. De som inte har
denna bakgrund kan ansöka via en jury.

BACKGROUND
AND FACTS ABOUT KHVC
Konsthantverkscentrum (The Crafts Center) was founded in
1990 by KIF (the Craftsmen and Designers' Organisation).
Its goal is to broaden the market for high-class crafts, thereby improving the economic situation for the craft artists. The
operation is mainly financed by an annual grant from the
Swedish Arts Council. KHVC represents Sweden in the World
Crafts Council (WCC) and is part of the European, as well as
the Nordic network in this area.
Membership
About 800 professional craft artists are currently associated
with KHVC. A Bachelor of Arts degree from any of the
schools in this field or equivalent education from abroad gives
immediate eligibility, but you can also join if you are a member of any of the established professional organisations in the
field. Those who have other backgrounds can apply to a special jury for admission.
