Moselcykelvägen
The German stretch of the Moselradweg (a cycling route along the
Moselle river) begins in Perl, near the French border, and runs about
275 kilometres along the distinctive river course to the Deutsches Eck
(the point where the Moselle joins the Rhine) in Koblenz. It is one of
the most popular long-distance routes for cyclists and connects wine
culture with a rich diversity of landscapes and towns that are well
worth seeing.

Suggested tour through Zeller Land:
The “Zeller Schwarze Katz” (black cat of Zell) fountain in the middle
of the Altstadt (historic district) of Zell (Mosel) is the ideal starting
point. From here, we follow the promenade to the nearby pedestrian
bridge. We push over to the other side of the river. Now we cycle
leisurely along the banks of the Moselle past Kaimt. After about four
kilometres we pass the ferry that goes to Briedel. We cycle further
downriver of the Marienburg (a former Augustinian monastery) with
our eyes on Pünderich. The path along the Moselle leads us to Reil.
It goes up steeply into the vineyards, where we will be rewarded for
our efforts by the view. The path leads on through a small wood to
the “Prinzenkopfturm” (an observation tower on the Prinzenkopf hill),
which offers a breathtaking view over the “Zeller Hamm” river loop.
Just a few metres further, we arrive at the Marienburg, which is today
a youth educational centre of the Diocese of Trier. We cycle along the
stretch of the hill ridge back to the “Prinzenkopfturm” and descend
through the wood to Alf. Upon arriving at the banks of the Moselle,
we follow the path past St. Aldegund to the bridge at Neef. Here we
again cross over to the other bank and cycle through the village.
From Neef, the journey takes us over a gravelled cycle trail above the
railway line to Bullay. From Bullay, we again cycle along the banks of
the Moselle back to Zell (Mosel) and the starting point.
Idealisk startpunkt är "Zeller Schwarze Katz"- brunnen mitt i
Zells (Mosel) Altstadt. Härifrån följer vi promenaden till den
närliggande fotgängarbron och för cyklarna till Mosels andra
sida. Nu cyklar vi långsamt längs Mosel och förbi Kaimt. Efter
ca fyra kilometer passerar vi färjan till Briedel. Under Marienburg cyklar vi vidare med blick mot Pünderich. Längs Mosel
för oss vägen till Reil. Det går brant upp i vinbergen, där
utsikten belönar oss för ansträngningen. Genom en liten skog
cyklar vi vidare till "Prinzenkopfturm", som bjuder på en
hisnande utsikt över flodslingan "Zeller Hamm". Bara ett par
meter vidare når vi Marienburg, som idag är Trierstiftets
utbildningscentrum för ungdomar. Vi cyklar på bergsryggen
tillbaka till "Prinzenkopfturm" och följer backen genom
skogen till Alf. När vi väl kommit ner till Mosel igen, följer vi
floden förbi St. Aldegund fram till bron i höjd med Neef. Här
cyklar vi över till Mosels andra sida genom orten. Från Neef
fortsätter vi på den grusbelagda cykelvägen ovanför järnvägen till Bullay. Från Bullay cyklar vi vidare längs flodstranden
tillbaka till Zell (Mosel) och utgångspunkten.
