HISTORY
Over the years the Adventist Christian population grew
in the Cayo District. With strong belief in Christian Education;
the Adventist Community decided to open a school to serve
youth who, in turn, would be prepared to serve their church and
community with integrity through Christian principles. An
increase of student population in the Cayo district was limiting
the access of our youth to a higher education; thereby the need to
open a high school since a primary school was already in
operation.
Its inception in September 1987, was a result of faith,
sincere prayer and vision of Pastor Ellis Coe, then District Pastor
of the churches in the Cayo District. Our loving God worked
through dedicated members of the church at home and abroad to
contribute funds and labor in collaboration with the Belize
Mission of Seventh-day Adventist, the Administration and Staff
of La Loma Luz Hospital who donated the land and the
Government of Belize through the Ministry of Education. Today,
Eden Seventh-day Adventist High School is a recognized
institution of secondary education by the Ministry of Education
in Belize.
At Eden, principles of tolerance, integrity, honesty,
fairness, and ethical values are taught. Students are helped to
develop attitudes of order, thoroughness and efficiency in their
work; characteristics that will make them productive citizens in
demand. In addition, they are led to become citizens of
usefulness and service for God and man. Our objective then is
“to teach the youth the importance of cultivating their physical,
mental and moral powers, that they may not only reach the
highest attainments in science, but through knowledge of God,
may be educated to glorify Him.”

ennoble his moral nature that he may reflect the image of the
Creator, is the great purpose of all the education and discipline

harmonious development of the physical, the mental and the
spiritual powers. It prepares the student for the joy of service in

The circle represents the wholesome education we
offer as a Christian institution.

youth in our

represents the territory through which our students
will go after graduation in their various fields of work
to put into practice the principles learnt while at Eden

The colors are indicative of our qualities or characteristics as
an institution and reflect our values.
The brown color that borders the logo represents the
institution’s earthiness, wholesomeness, simplicity
and friendliness found amongst the teachers and
students at Eden High. This natural color evokes a
sense of strength and reliability. It brings to mind the
feeling of warmth, comfort and security that our
students experience at Eden High.
The green color in the logo stands for the continuous
growth of Eden within the country of Belize. It represents
the healthy, harmonious environment that makes our
students feel exuberant and vivacious.
The green also represents nature and trees that are
very typical of Eden High providing that tranquil and
healthy environment that soothes, refreshes, relaxes
and cheers our students and teachers as they go about
their daily endeavors in the learning process.
ADMISSION
A student need not be a Seventh-day Adventist to apply;
however, the high school is a Seventh-day Adventist
Christian school and has as its definite purpose the
development of spiritual ideals. Therefore, students who are
irreligious or make light of religious matters, have atheistic
tendencies, or do not plan to come for the purpose of
developing their spiritual qualities should not apply for
admission. Students of other religions are welcome, provided
they show due respect for the Word of God, maintain a
reverend attitude during religious exercises, and observe all
the regulations of the school.

Eden Seventh-Day Adventist High School is managed by a

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENT
All students seeking entry to Eden must submit the following:
1. Completed application form
2. One (1) Passport size picture
3. Copy of birth certificate
4. Copy of Social Security Card
5. Email of Parents/Guardians
6. Two (2) Letters of Recommendation from previous
school: one from the class teacher and one from the
principal.
7. Copy of PSE results
8. Copy of Standard Five and Six report cards
9. For transferees only: official transcript from
previous school
A non-refundable fee of $20 must accompany all applications.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ACCEPTANCE
a. Application forms for admission must be in the office by
the last week in May. After this date a late fee of
$30.00 will be charged. The admission committee reserves
the right to accept or reject any application.
b. Students entering Eden High School should have
completed Standard Six at the primary level and obtained
an adequate pass on the PSE. They must fulfill the other
requirements stipulated on the application form.
c. The student must be conscious that he/she is coming to
study and must be willing to obey all rules and regulations
that govern the conduct on or off campus.
The student must read and understand the principles as
stated in this handbook and must be willing to abide by the
same.
d. Students who apply for admission to Eden High with a
failure from their previous institution will be required to
repeat the form they failed before being promoted.
e. Students entering first form are required to attend a 2
weeks summer course; failure to comply will forfeit their
acceptance.

1. Students are to pay the required first payment of the total
fees on registration day. The balance of fees must be paid
by the first week of December. Repeaters are to pay the
total sum required for the first semester when registering.
2. Government will NOT subsidize students who do not
possess a Social Security Card. Parents/guardians will be
responsible for the total payment of the cost of tuition and
other fees.
3. Application fee is non-refundable. Registration fee is nonrefundable. 50% of all other fees are non-refundable
from the first day of classes. The remaining 50% will be
refunded proportionate to the remaining months of the
school year.
These fees subsidize the operational expenses of the institution, salaries,
maintenance of computer and science laboratories, Physical Education
uniform, and identification cards, utilities, maintenance of infrastructure,
bathrooms, paper, office supplies, etc.
A fee of $50.00 will be charged for late registration.

ATTENDANCE
Frequent absences from school are a serious matter that can
contribute to failing grades. Therefore, both students and
parents should strive to maintain regular attendance on part of
students.
1. Students who are absent, upon returning to school must present
an official note from their parents justifying their absence.
Students will not be allowed into class after an absence without
an admission slip from the office. In the case that a note is not
presented, parents will be called to verify reason for absence.
Students will be charged for this phone call.
2. Unexcused absences will result when students do not present an
official justification. When students are late they must also
present a note from their parents and receive a slip from the
office allowing them to enter class. After an accumulation of six
(6) unjustified tardiness or two (2) unjustified absences, student
will be given 1 demerit by the homeroom teacher.
3. Students will not be promoted to a higher form if they have
more than 15% (27 days) unjustified absences within the school
year. Exceptions will be made for certified illnesses or other
justifiable reasons based on the discretion of the administration.
4. After 3 consecutive days of absences, a medical certificate must
be brought to school.
5. Students must attend all class sessions. Teachers will take
attendance for each class. Any student who skips class will be
given 1 demerit by the subject teacher or the office.
6. All students are required to be present during General
Assembly. They are also required to be present during the week
of Spiritual Emphasis and at all other religious and secular
activities of the school. Students are encouraged to take an
active part in these activities and use their talents to the glory of
God.

ACADEMICS
Eden S.D.A. High School is a secondary institution consisting
of four (4) years of studies. In the first two years a general
course is offered. From the third year through the fourth,
students pursue studies in Business: Accounting or Secretarial;
Academic: Science or Social Science. All students must choose
a vocational elective subject.

PROMOTION INFORMATION
a. The school year is divided into two semesters. The final grade
is based on the accumulated average of the two semesters
b. During the middle of the first and second semester a midsemester report will be given. This will give an evaluation of
the progress of each student up to that part of the semester.
Mid-semester progress reports are not permanent records in
our database.
c. The minimum passing average for each subject is 70 %.
Students who achieve a 90% or higher in any individual
subject will be exempt for that subject’s exam for the first
semester. Students who achieve a 95% or higher in any
individual subject will be exempt for that subject’s exam for
the second semester.
d. A student may receive an “I” (incomplete) on a semester
report only for medical reasons or any other justifiable
reason based on discretion of administration. However, the
student must fulfill all academic requirements within a
prescribed time.
e. Students who fail a form at Eden High or at another school
will be given the opportunity to repeat.
f. Transcript of students will be honored according to the
passing standards of the school he was attending.
g. In order for students to be promoted they must pass all
subjects. Should a student fail one or two subjects (provided
it is not Math and English) he/she will be given the
opportunity to recuperate the subjects before being
promoted. Students recuperating must do it within the
prescribed dates. If this is not done the student will not be

promoted. There will be no exceptions. Students who fail
three subjects will need to repeat that form. First, second,
and third formers will be allowed to recuperate any 2
subjects at the end of the school year (provided it is not
MATH and ENGLISH). Recuperation of Math or English
will require a fee of $100 for first and second form while
third form will incur a fee of $150. All other subjects will
incur a fee of $50.
h. Parent/Guardians are requested to kindly check their child’s
progress regularly and to give words of encouragement.
Parents should feel free to come in and discuss their child’s
academic/conduct with the teachers.
EXTERNAL EXAMS
Fourth formers should make all efforts to sit at least six
external exams (CXC) and the ATLIB exam. Students who are
successful on the six CXCs, will be awarded a scholarship by
the government of Belize to any tertiary level institution of their
choice. Suggested CXC exams are English, Math, Spanish and
any other three from their chosen course of studies. All fees for
these exams (which are non-refundable) must be paid by the 15
of November.

Students must have attended at least 85% of the total
number of sessions for each subject.
Students must pay all graduation fees by the end of
February.
Students must have maintained a satisfactory conduct. If he
does not have a good record at the time of graduation,
he/she will not be allowed to participate in the graduation
exercises.
Students who fail one subject (cannot be Math or English)
will be allowed to recuperate in order to participate in

graduation exercises. Student who fails recuperation will
be granted one more opportunity during summer course.
This means he/she forfeits graduation exercise. A student
who fails Math or English will not be allowed to re-sit
before graduation, thus will not participate in graduation
activities, however, he/she will be granted opportunity to
re-sit the specific subject only, during the first semester of
the following school year and if successful will be given
his diploma at the end of the first semester. Those who fail
two subjects will have to repeat fourth form.
Students must have fulfilled 30 hours of community
service. This should be completed before entering fourth
form.
Students must have completed 3 weeks of career practice.
This applies to transfer students who have not completed
the requirement at a previous school. In cases of transfer
students, an official letter must be presented. Career
practice cannot be conducted with a family member,
church, or primary school.
All students are required by the school to be present for all
graduation practices and preparation. Failure to do so will
not permit the student to participate in the graduation
ceremonies.
Students must have fulfilled any other requirements that
may be specified by the administration of the high school.

The valedictorian, salutatorian and Vote of Thanks students are
selected based on their overall grade point average for the four
years at Eden High School. To earn these positions, besides the
GPA, students must have maintained a good conduct
throughout their years at Eden High School.

COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAM
This is a program to encourage one of the great traditions of
our church, which is to serve others.
1. As a requirement for graduation, all students are required
to fulfill a 30 hour Community service before reaching
fourth form. This is independent of any other community
service done by the school.
2. Projects will be based on areas of need around the
community.
3. Community service may not be conducted with a family
member.
4. The homeroom teacher will keep track of the student’s
progress.
5. STUDENTS WHO DO NOT COMPLETE THE 30
HOURS COMMUNITY SERVICE, WILL NOT BE
ALLOWED TO GRADUATE.
SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS
A copy of the Performance Report will be sent to the sponsor
of the student enjoying such benefits after an examination
session is completed. The student must also fulfill the
community service hours required by their sponsors.
WORKING SCHOLARSHIPS
Eden High School offers working scholarships per school
year based on availability. Students wishing to apply for one
of these working scholarships may do so by:
a. Completing an application form obtained in the office.
b. Attend an interview with the Principal.
c. Maintain an average of 75% (GPA of 2.5) or above
and be promoted

TRANSCRIPTS AND RECOMMENDATION
LETTERS
Any student who wishes to receive a transcript of grades for
studies accomplished at Eden High must solicit it at least seven
(7) days before the date the transcript is needed. A fee of
$10.00 must be paid before the transcript is written. Students
may receive upon request, a recommendation letter from this
school for the purposes of transfer, study, work, or vacation.
Letters for visas will be issued at the close of the school year
providing registration is done. For all these services the student
must have his/her fees up-to-date.
Students who have pending disciplinary matters will not receive
letters of recommendation or transcripts until all matters have
been addressed.
DEMERIT SYSTEM
Each student who commits an offence will have to sign a
demerit note issued by the teacher at that specific moment
acknowledging that he/she has received 1 demerit. Failure to
sign the note will result in the Principal/Vice-Principal
giving the teacher authority to give the student another
demerit.
The disciplinary committee will deal with students who
persist in their misbehavior and recommend the necessary
sanctions. For every three (3) demerits a student will be
required to serve a detention. These detentions will be an
assigned task after classes by the person in charge of
supervision. Three detentions will lead to one week suspension
from classes. During this time students are not allowed to
associate with the rest of the student body. They are also
required to fulfill all their academic requirements. Two
suspensions in the same year will lead to an expulsion. A
third suspension during the students four years at Eden
high will lead to immediate expulsion.

Parents/ Guardians will be notified of the students’ behavior.
Kindly note, that these disciplinary actions will not be the only
system used by the school. We will endeavor to use other
methods in a positive and constructive way before subtracting
merits. Final disciplinary actions are reserved for the School
Board.
UNIFORM
Uniforms are to be used every day rain or sunshine.
GIRLS:
1. White blouse tucked into skirt.
2. Blouse should be at least 6 inches past the hips to
ensure that it remains properly tucked in at all times.
3. A white vest must be used under the blouse.
4. Blouse is used with school tie and pin.
5. Brown plaid skirt with two (2) pleats in the front and two
(2) pleats at the back. The length should be one inch
below the knee while sitting.
6. Full Black shoe or tennis shoe should be worn at all time.
7. Full white socks should be worn at least 6 inches above
the top of the shoe.

BOYS:
1. White shirt properly tucked inside the pants.
2. A white undershirt should be worn under the uniform shirt.
3. Dark Brown pants (no sagging or skinny uniform pants).
The foot of the pants should be worn outside the shoe.
4. Brown or Black belt with standard size buckle with no
design.
5. Badge must be completely sewn on the left front pocket of
the shirt.
6. Full Black shoe or black tennis shoe should be worn at all
times.
7. Socks should be worn at all times.
NOTE: Students must come to school in proper uniform. If this
is not adhered to, the student must bring a note from the parent
explaining the reason for the child to be without proper
uniform. Eden High has the right to accept or reject the reasons

presented. Parents of students who do not present a note will be
informed that their child will be sent home. Note must include
date, signature and contact number of parent/guardian.
 At the end of the day, students must leave campus and
return home properly attired in their uniform.
 Students’ identification card must be visible at all
times, including field trips and other school related
activities.
 Disobedience to rules will result in the student being
penalized.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION UNIFORM
The physical education uniform can be purchased in the
accounting office.
 P.E. uniform is mandatory during P.E. classes.
 Students must not leave campus in P.E. uniform.
DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE (DC)
The Disciplinary Committee is responsible to see that students
who commit offences receive the appropriate disciplinary
measures. The committee recommends the discipline that will
be applied to a student who is found guilty of any offence.
The DC will:
1. Investigate the incident relating to the student.
2. Report and Recommend, in writing, to the principal what
the corrective measure will be for the student who
commits an offence and is found guilty.
3. Receive a referral from the principal for a particular case.
4. Keep a record of students’ behavior
5. Recommend a conference with parents when needed

6. Plan and find tasks for students to do as a result of any
of the offences committed above
7. Not every matter will be taken to the DC. Only serious
matter will be brought up, example, drinking, fighting,
constant breaking of school rules, etc.

The applications of the principles that govern this school
promote concepts of Christian Education. The High School
reserves the right both of rejection and admission of students
and the right of being the only judge to decide if it is convenient
or not for a student to continue receiving its benefit.
Students must become familiar with the following rules to
know what conduct is not permissible and can lead to possible
punishment or even dismissal.
1. DRESS STANDARD
“In no better way can you let your light shine to others than in your
simplicity of dress and deportment. You may show to all that, in
comparison with eternal things, you place a proper estimate on the
things of life.” 4T
Dress influences self-concept and behavior. All research and practical
experience undeniably indicates that this is a fact. Therefore,
student’s appearance should be neat, simple, modest, clean,
appropriate and well coordinated. The more professional and sharp
the dress, the higher the student’s self-respect, and the more
responsible the student’s behavior. Dress which identifies with certain
subcultures, particularly those which represent values that are
contrary to society and/or Christianity is not permitted.

DRESS CODE FOR TRIPS & EXTRA
CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
This includes any occasion when students are not required
to wear uniform.
 Slacks or jeans are allowed, NO shorts, hiphuggers, tight, low cut, back-out clothes.
 Skirts must cover the knee when standing or
sitting.
 Tennis or sandals can be used.
 NO T-Shirts with vulgar or double meaning
messages on them.
Restrictions:
Pictures, emblems, clothing or writing on clothing that:
a. are lewd, offensive, vulgar or obscene.
b. depict a cult
c. have sacrilegious signs or symbols
d. represent gang membership
e. see-through clothing
f. advertise any form of drug or illegal substance.
VIOLATIONS
Students who do not comply will receive an administration selected clothing for the day, be issued a demerit, and lose
their right to wear casual clothing at the next extra curricular
activity.

2. MANNERISM
Students and teachers should greet one another warmly
whenever they meet. Rudeness and discourtesy are to be
avoided. Disobedience to teachers will not be tolerated.
There must not be student’s antagonism to the spirit, methods
and objectives of the institution. The exercising of influence
that may be harmful to the other students may lead to
dismissal.
No eating or chewing is allowed in the classroom and during
assembly.
Caps/hats/shades should not be worn on campus while in
uniform, if worn they will be confiscated.
3. HYGIENE/SANITATION/APPEARANCE
a) Healthy personal hygiene must be maintained by all
students to avoid body odor, bad breath or other distasteful
situations.
b) Distracting or extreme hairstyles are not permitted. Boys
must wear a general low haircut. Mohawks, markings and
other deliberate styles are not allowed. Failure to comply will
result in the student being sent home until the haircut
complies with the school’s regulation. Young men are not
allowed to keep a beard.
c) The use of jewelry (religious relics, rubber bands) is
prohibited on or off campus once in school uniform. Anyone
found with them will be disciplined and the jewelry will be
confiscated and returned at the end of the school year after the
payment of a fine of $25.00. No excuses are accepted.
d) Students will not be allowed on campus with jewelry or not
properly attired.
e) Students (both males and females) must not pluck or mark
their eyebrows.

f) The use of cosmetics is prohibited and should neither be
brought to school. Nail polish should not be used. The hairdo must be properly done and not one that will cause
distraction. Hair must not be dyed outside of its natural color.
g) Students are not allowed to come to school with “vamp”
marks.
Garbage disposal: Students must dispose of garbage in its
proper place, the garbage bins. The campus and classrooms
must be kept clean at all times. It is an offense to throw
rubbish on campus. The defacing of building and furniture is
not allowed. A fine will be charged to any student found
doing so.
Sanitation and Utility Fees:
A fee of $25.00 will be charged to the homeroom:
a) When the classroom and immediate
surroundings are in filthy conditions.
b) When the lights/fans are left on after classes.
c) When windows/doors are left open.
*All classrooms must be closed at break time. Students must
take care of school property. Parents must pay for any losses
or damage caused by their children.
4. TATTOO POLICY
“You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo
any marks on you; I am the Lord.”Leviticus 19:28
Freshmen and transfer students will be asked to register any
visible tattoos and piercing upon registration. Students should
not get any other tattoo or piercing for the duration of their
stay at Eden. Students who fail to comply will face
disciplinary measures. Temporary markings on the skin using
pens or markers are not allowed. Demerits will be given for
failure to comply with this rule.

5. DELINQUENCY
a) Any student found in possession of marijuana, liquor,
or any prohibited drug (narcotics) or caught selling
faces the risk of being dismissed immediately. Student
caught selling or distributing drugs on campus will be
dismissed immediately. Students are subject to be
searched at any time. Any student found in possession
or use of cigarette(s) will be suspended immediately.
b) Eden High school reserves the right to request a drug
test from any student to prove their use of prohibited
substances. The cost of this drug test will be total
responsibility of the parents.
c) Anyone found stealing, cheating, forging, lying, or
using vulgar, coarse, profane or vindictive language or
in possession of playing cards, obscene literature or
pictures or the telling of suggestive jokes will be
disciplined. All the above is strictly prohibited.
d) Students are not permitted to attend nightclubs, dance
halls, discotheques, bars, or demonstrations while
attending S.D.A. High School. These could lead to
immediate dismissal.
e) Students are not allowed to fight on or off campus. No
hitting allowed. Students involved in hitting or
fighting will be suspended and after proper
investigation can be expelled.
f) Students are not permitted to participate in any gang
activities and should not be in possession of items
such as red, blue rags or handkerchiefs associated with
such activities. If a student is found in possession of
these items, they will be confiscated and the student
may suffer possible expulsion.

6. DISCIPLINARY STEPS
1. This institution reserves the right to apply
disciplinary measures that may be necessary or to
solicit the removal of students whose conduct is
contrary to the principles of the school, independently
of whether the offence was done on or off campus.
2. All misconducts will be dealt with by the Discipline
Committee firstly. The discipline committee will
make
recommendations to the Principal. The
Principal will present such matters to the High School
Board. The school Board’s decision will be final in all
such matters.
3. Whenever students do not fulfill the rules, a referral
form is completed by the teacher and signed by the
students. If the behavior is repeated a second time the
behavior is documented and students will be referred
to the school counselor. If the behavior becomes a
problem the students will lose merit(s) based on the
gravity of the offence.
4. Students who receive a demerit, will sign a demerit
note provided by the teacher. Failure to sign will
result in two demerits given to the student - one by the
teacher and the other will be authorized by the
principal or vice-principal.
5. At the beginning of the school year each student will
be awarded 20 merits. On an individual basis teachers
can take away 1 merit for a given misconduct,
however the principal/vice-principal and Discipline
Committee can take away 2 or more merits depending
on the seriousness of the misconduct.

channels, Racial discrimination, Defaming of
character, Improper attire, Hair that is not properly
groomed, Use of jewelry with uniform on or off
campus (Teacher will confiscate jewelry immediately)
Nail polish and make up, Wearing of caps during
chapel or classes, Chewing/Eating in class, Incomplete
uniform, Littering, Neglect of class duties/homeroom
responsibilities, Wearing caps during assembly,
Disrespect in religious and civic ceremonies,
Vandalism, Intentionally defacing school property
(will incur payment), Tampering with bicycles or
vehicles, Possession of prohibited items (CD’s cards,
Discmans, Ipods, dominos and CD players,
MP3/MP4 Players, cell phones, all other electronic
devices.), Possession and/or use of alcohol, Possession
and/or use of marijuana or products containing
marijuana, Possession and/ or use of illegal drugs in
any form, Threat to life, Possession and/or use of
firearm, firecrackers, or any object used to wound,
Possession and/or use of legal drugs without medical

prescription or doctor’s recommendation and Criminal
offences leading to court charges
NOTE: The school reserves the right to call in the
police if necessary.
7. POLICY ON LEAVING CAMPUS
1. Students should not leave school campus without an
official permission after entering the campus. If a student
leaves campus without permission, they will receive 1
detention (3 demerits) and the parents will be informed.
2. In the case that a parent gives permission for a student to
leave school before the end of the school day, the parent
of the individual student will come and pick up the
student.
3. If a parent cannot come to school, the parent must
authorize the school to allow the child to leave without
parental guidance.
4. The student must PAY for the call made to the parents.
8. STUDENT SAFETY
It is the responsibility of the school to do what it can to guard
the students from danger and to provide an opportunity for full
development of body, mind and soul. The school must respond
to the parents in any case of sickness or accident; therefore, the
school should be able to give account at all times, as to where
the students might be at any given time. In order to maintain
proper communication between the school and parents, parents
must ensure that a current contact number is provided to the
school.
Bicycles and other forms of transportation must be locked to
avoid others from using them. School is not responsible for any
loss. No bicycle should be ridden on campus and all bicycles
should be parked at the bicycle stand.

STUDENT DRIVERS
Students will not be permitted to use any motor vehicles
except for transportation to and from school. While on
campus, students will not have access to their vehicles.
Students drive their cars to school at their own risk. The
school takes no responsibility for the vehicles driven by
students. Students are not allowed to drive a vehicle without a
valid driver’s license and proper insurance.
9. SOCIAL STANDARDS
Eden High School is a co-educational school established and
designed to provide Christian social development. We believe
that since God created both male and female, when He
established the human family, it is evident that He anticipated
and planned that there should be wholesome and satisfying
association between the sexes.
However, from the study of the Bible and inspired comments,
it is our position that—“the young affections should be
restrained until the period arrives when sufficient age and
experience will make it honorable and safe to unfetter them.
Those who will not be restrained will be in danger of
dragging out an unhappy existence. A youth not out of his
teens is a poor judge of the fitness of a person as young as
himself to be his companion for life.”
With this in mind, we believe that boys and girls should be
taught habits of propriety while in the company of each other.
Therefore, unrestricted association, sentimentalism, flirtation,
loitering of couples in the buildings or secluded places and
the meeting of the opposite sex in deliberately clandestine
manner in secret or public places are forbidden. Students
committing these offences will be disciplined or sent for
counseling.

Loitering or hesitating for the sake of visiting of the opposite
sex on campus is strictly prohibited.
At no time students of the opposite sex are permitted to touch,
or display physical affection on campus or on the streets
while going home.
Students are to refrain from allowing their friends to come on
campus just for socializing or for visiting members of the
opposite sex. If this type of visit occurs, visitors will be asked
to leave campus.
Students will not be allowed to receive phone call during
class time unless it is an emergency. Only parents/guardians
are allowed to telephone the school for a student to be
summoned. Students will be allowed to make phone calls to
their homes in case of emergencies.
PARENTING
1. Any student who becomes pregnant or is responsible
for a pregnancy while enrolled at Eden will be asked to
withdraw from school.
2. The students can be reconsidered for re-admittance two
years after the birth of the child depending on the decision of
the school board.
3. Any student who commits abortion shall be expelled
from school, provided that there is enough evidence.
4. Students who are found cohabitating out of wedlock
will be required to withdraw from school.

10. CELL PHONES & COMPUTERS
Students are not allowed to have cellular phones, tablets, or
laptops on campus without proper authorization.
Students are not allowed to have cellular phones during CXC
exams, as the school can be disqualified.
Where parents request for a student to have a cellular phone,
arrangements must be made for the phone to be kept in the
office during school hours and a fee of $1 per day will be
charged. If the phone is lost while in the care of the office, up
to a maximum of $100.00 can be compensated by the school.
Laptops & tablets are not to be used during school hours
unless it is for presentation purposes only, upon request of the
subject teacher. A student who brings his/her laptop or tablet
to school must leave the device in the office before and after
the presentation. The school is not responsible for any
damage or lost of device. Failure to comply with the rule will
result in the device being confiscated and a fine of $50.00
charged for recovery of the device.
. The school will not assume any responsibility for devices
left in the office after a one week period.
In cases of emergency students should consult the secretary to
make the phone call.
11. INTERNET AND COMPUTER USE
Access to Internet is made available to students, teachers, and
staff of Eden SDA High School. The goal is to promote
educational excellence by facilitating research, resources
sharing, innovation and communication. The Internet is to be
used in support of research and education and consistent with
the educational objectives of the school. Remember that
internet use is a privilege, NOT a right. All internet
transactions are monitored by the server.

Each new student of Eden is provided with a login name and
password which provide access to the many IT facilities
within the school. Your account is set up on the first session
of Information Technology class. Your login name and
password are for your personal use only and must not be
used to permit any other person to gain access to the school
network or its attached resources. Your password and
username should last you for as long as you attend the high
school (normally, 4 years). Please do not forget it. You can
always change the password at any given time.
Unacceptable Internet use will consist of, but not be limited
to the following:
A. Transmitting, accessing, printing, downloading or
uploading any material which might be deemed pornographic,
obscene, sexually explicit, indecent or vulgar;
B. Transmitting, accessing, printing, downloading or
uploading any material which might be deemed abusive,
hateful, degrading, demeaning, derogatory or defamatory;
C. Vandalizing, damaging, disabling or gaining unauthorized
access to another person's property, file, data, or materials;
D. Vandalizing, damaging, disabling or gaining unauthorized
access to district- or building- owned computer systems, files,
data or programs;
E. Accessing, printing, downloading or uploading personal
web pages;
F. Engaging in any commercial or business activity;
G. On-line game playing;
H. Printing, downloading or uploading information from a
personal flash drive without permission;
I. Using social networking website during school hours;
J. Chat rooms
K. A fine will be charged to any student who vandalizes or
damages any lab property.

Please note that NO student is allowed to use the computer
lab during break or lunch. After classes the lab may be used
for research, provided that a teacher is present to supervise.
The network administrator may, if necessary, review files to
keep the system up and running. Users should not expect
that files stored on the server will always be private.
12. LITERATURE
Since the printed page is one of the mightiest forces for good
or evil in the life of a reader, students are asked to read only
that which ennobles and uplifts, and to abstain form reading
“frivolous tales, story magazines, pornographic literature,
comic, novels or other forms of questionable literature.
“Those who are in God’s service spend neither time nor
money in unprofitable reading.”
13. STUDENT COUNCIL
During the early part of the first semester the student body
will have the opportunity to elect officers for their
homerooms. These officers will in turn be elected at a general
meeting to serve on an executive committee. The President
will be elected from the officers in third form only. The
previous president will serve as counselor.

Treasurer, Religious Activities Coordinator,
and two vocals
Two counselors will also be elected from among the staff
members, one by the students and one by the staff.

14. PREFECTS
Prefects are selected students from all forms. Ideally, they are
respected by staff and by pupils.
1. Prefects are expected to maintain a high standard of
behavior and a high standard of justice.
2. They are generally confined to maintain an orderly
movement of other pupils about the school, and taking an
important part in the organization and administration of
regular or special school functions.
Such delegation of authority and responsibility by teachers to
pupils can provide many opportunities for the prefects to
assist the young and learn to use authority. Younger pupils,
too, are obliged to experience the rule of their seniors before
they move on to exercise power themselves.
3. The influence of prefects falls equally upon all younger
pupils, thus eliminating discrimination between those of
different abilities and social backgrounds. On all sides, there
is general recognition that the prefectural system is an
important part of the educational experience which has to do
with the development of character and responsibility. A
student will learn from the experiences undergone within the
prefect system of the school.

The role of the prefect can be divided into three major
areas:
• Day to day assistance within the school
• An ambassador/ representative of the school.
• Support such as support in classrooms for one on one
student mentoring, for teacher support such as running
errands.
Other duties may include supervising behavior in the
cafeteria, assembly or gate duty at the beginning of the school
day.
Prefects are also expected to support staff by monitoring
uniform code throughout the school and dealing with unruly
behavior.
Requirements for being a prefect:
1. The students must have a good record of conduct.
2. The students must have a GPA of 2.5 or above.
3. The students must be punctual to school, seldom miss
school and must respect teachers and students.
4. Leadership qualities
The faculty of Eden SDA High School will review the
different students who will be apt for being a prefect.
Once the students have been confirmed for prefects, the
student will receive a contract. Once the prefect has breached
the contract, he/she will be asked to resign.

15. HOMEROOM ACTIVITIES
It is compulsory that students participate in all
classroom activities including fundraising, community
projects, class improvement and all other extra curricular
activities. Class dues are collected already in registration.
16. SCIENCE LABORATORY RULES
These are some of the general rules, teachers may apply
others.
a. Obey the safety rules
b. Do not destroy lab equipment
c. Do not take food or drinks into the lab without proper
authorization.
d. No one is to enter the lab without authorization of the
teacher.
e. No bags allowed
f. A fine will be charged to any student who vandalizes or
damages any lab property.
17. LIBRARY
a. Library hours - Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 3:30
b. Silence is to be observed at all times.
c. Students are not to deface/disfigure any encyclopedia,

Damaged books/furniture must be paid in FULL by the
student.

18. CAFETERIA
“Study is not the principal cause of breakdown of the mental powers. The
main cause is improper diet, irregular meals, a lack of physical exercise,
and careless inattention in other respects to the laws of the health.” CT
p.299
In harmony with the above statement, flesh foods are not
served in the school cafeteria and should not be brought on to
campus. Parents are requested to cooperate in maintaining
these principles and when sending foods, it is recommended
that healthful foods be chosen.
In order to provide an efficient service in the cafeteria, the
students must adhere to the following rules:
a. All students must be in the line to be served
b. Students in the line should not receive money from
any other student who is not in the line to purchase for
them.
c. Students who receive money or jump line will be
asked to come out from the line.
d. NO loitering at any time
e. No sitting on the tables.
f. Defacing, destroying or vandalizing Cafeteria’s
property will result in the students paying in FULL for
damage caused.
19. ASSEMBLY/CHAPEL
Every Monday, from 7:40-8:00 AM an assembly is carried
out. Students are expected to line up in front of the flagpole
by 7:40 AM. Students are to stand at attention when the
National Anthem and the school song are sung. Failure to do
this will result in disciplinary action.
All students must be present during the weekly Spiritual
Assembly. Students are not allowed to chew or behave
disruptively during this time. Failure to behave properly will
result in disciplinary action.

20. TEACHERS DEVOTION
Every morning teachers have devotion from 7:15 to 7:30 AM.
Students are requested NOT to seek a teacher during this
time.
21. CLASSROOM RULES
a. Chewing is prohibited
b. Sit properly at all times
c. Walking around is discouraged
d. Be respectful
e. Be courteous
f. Vandalism of school property is a grievous offence; this
includes the marking of desk and armchair.
g. Any other rule that the homeroom deems best.
22. BAG SEARCH
Authorized inspection of student and search of bags will be
done periodically. Student cooperation is expected at all
times.
23. ABSENCE DURING CLASS ACTIVITY
A student who is absent when a quiz or test is administered,
will have a 3 days grace period to be able to do the test/quiz,
provided that a justifiable reason is provided for the absence.
The student however, will receive a maximum of 70% upon
passing the quiz/test.
Please note that this rule does not apply to oral activities.

24. PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED AT SCHOOL
Students are advised to contact the administration if there is a
problem within the school that merits attention. Students are
not to contact any outsider for “assistance”. The use of cell
phone to get out of campus assistance during class time is
contrary to school rules which incur disciplinary measures.
25. MUSIC
Music… we realize that music can be an emotionally-charged
issue. It is fairly easy to evaluate the words, but what about
the music itself? The Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy give us
clear indication that there is a right and wrong type of music.
However, they are a little vague as to the specifics.
Therefore, we have set up the following guidelines, not as
moral absolutes, but as safe limits for our school.
Not rhythm dominated- Music has melody, harmony and
rhythm. The music performed or listened to on campus
should be in that order of precedence. Melody first and
foremost, harmony second and rhythm least.
Correct lyrics - lyrics should be doctrinally and otherwise
correct in their philosophy.
To God’s glory - Performances or religious music should be
to the glory of God and not for the glory of the performer.
The object of sacred music is to draw the listener closer to
God. We love music here at Eden. It is a big part of our
program. We encourage you to sing songs that will lift up the
name of the Lord.
Please note that MP3’s, MP4’s or any other musical device is
not allowed on campus. Such devices found on students will
be confiscated immediately and will be return to the parent
after a fee of $50.00 is paid.
