About Calgary
As Canada’s fourth largest city, Calgary has a diverse, multicultural population of just
over one million and is considered to be one of Canada’s most livable cities. Our fourseason climate makes Calgary a perfect place to combine study with cultural exploration
and recreational activities. Calgary has dozens of parks and pathways throughout the city
and it is just a one-hour drive to the majestic Rocky Mountains and Banff National Park.
If you are an outdoor enthusiast and enjoy skiing, snowboarding or ice-skating in the
winter or golf, hiking, cycling or horseback riding in the summer, Calgary has what you
are looking for! For cultural entertainment, Calgary has a large variety of theatres,
museums and art galleries. Shopping malls and streets are found throughout the city and
play host to numerous festivals throughout the year. Calgary is home to two professional
sport teams — the Calgary Flames (hockey) and Calgary Stampeders (American football)
as well as several amateur teams. Each July, Calgary celebrates our western heritage by
hosting the Calgary Stampede — the world famous rodeo and outdoor show.
Welcome to Calgary. We’re sure that your students will enjoy their stay!
