SAGF 2013
ARTISTIC WOMEN’S MODIFIED LEVEL 1 – 3 CODE OF POINTS
PREFACE
The SAGF WAG Code of Points is based on the ethics and sportive directives of the FIG 2013 Code
of Points - Women’s Artistic Gymnastics’ authority for the governance of World Class events,
Continental events, International & National Competitions.
As per the directive of the FIG WTC, the SAGF WTC have devised a modified set of rules to guide,
develop and govern the standards within our country which guides & directs the development of the
sport.



The SAFG WAG Modified Code conveys technical directives to the Coaches, Gymnasts and
Judges concerning the performance of exercises in Level 1-3.
It imparts general directives for the behavior of gymnasts, coaches and judges during
competitions.
It standardizes judging rules in order to ensure as far a possible, the most objective
evaluation of the exercises, thereby ensuring the identification of the best gymnast in any
competition.
The following abbreviations will appear throughout the code:

THANKS & APPRECIATION:
Thanks and appreciation are expressed to the members of the Levels Portfolio leader for the many
hours of preparation, proof reading and finalizing of the SAGF WAG Code of Points and the Levels
Program:
In preparing the SAGF Modified Level 1 – 3 Code of Points, our intention is to achieve the following:
 Simplify formative competition years making Level 1 – 3 progressive, yet possible to teach in
facilities which may be limited regarding access to equipment.
 Safe teaching practices which logically progression, yet provide challenging requirements for the
gymnasts.
 We have endeavoured to make the Level 1 Judges education less intense, by simplifying rules
and judging principles and competition responsibilities to be more practical and understandable.

In consultation with coaches of all levels, it was evident there was a need to significantly change the
structure of the Levels 1-3 Program and the scoring system. It is possible difficulties may be
encountered in the initial stages of the implementation of these changes, but trust that those in
authority will use good judgment to manage the circumstances if they should arise. 2013 will be an
evaluation period and the WAG PM will review what changes if any need to be considered.
WAG PM trusts that the SAGF WAG Code will be used in the spirit intended for the enhancing and
promotion of the good image of our attractive sport and most important, for the benefit, safety and in
the best interests of our gymnasts.
Respectfully yours
Paddy Chadwick
WTC Chair
