Children under 6 admitted free. Admission – Team Personnel All classifications will be allowed four support personnel and the following number of coaches to be admitted without an IHSAA card or tournament pass: 1-3 participants: 2 coaches; 4-6 participants: 3 coaches; 7-9 participants: 4 coaches; 10 & above participants: 5 coaches. Any coaches or support personnel exceeding that number must have either an IHSAA card or purchase a tournament pass, but will not be allowed on the floor. Bracelets for the appropriate number of coaches and support personnel will be enclosed in the coach’s packet, which will be available Wednesday evening and Thursday prior to weigh-in. Only coaches with a bracelet will be allowed on the floor area. Participant stamps will be issued during weigh-ins. Wrestlers will not be admitted without this stamp. There will be a designated entrance for participants. Only wrestlers with the proper color stamp will be allowed in the mat area. Mat Maids, Cheerleaders, Bands, etc. No mat maids, cheerleaders, drill teams, or bands will be admitted free. Tickets may be picked up and signed for at the tournament site. The school will be invoiced after the tournament. Awards The coach of each champion will make the presentation of medals. The awards will be given 2A/4A first, followed by 3A/5A. Medals will be given to the first six places in each weight class in each division. Team trophies will be awarded to the Champion, runner-up, third place and fourth place in each classification. District Tournament Certification There is a three scratch weigh-in requirement for entry into the district tournament. 3 Growth Allowance A two-pound growth allowance will be added to each weight class for all wrestlers on the second Sunday in January. This may not be used to qualify for a lower weight class. Example: Wrestler A’s minimum certified wrestling weight is 115 pounds, which puts him in the 120 weight class. After the second Sunday in January, the 113 weight class becomes 115, but Wrestler A is still only eligible for the 120 class. Dressing Rooms Wrestlers should dress at home or in their motel rooms. There are a limited number of dressing rooms available at the tournament site. Mats and Officials Twelve mats will be used all day Friday and for the Saturday consolation and consolation semis. Eight mats will be used for the 3rd/4th and 5/th/6th place matches on Saturday. Only four mats will be used in the finals on Saturday night. An assistant referee will be used only during consolation and championship semifinals and consolation and championship finals. Parade of Champions The finalists in each weight class are to be dressed in uniform and meet at the designated area by 2:15 p.m. on March 1. Further instructions will be given at that time. Coaches of last year’s team champions - Collin Robertson of Centennial, Todd Cady of Columbia, Drew Dickerson of Wesier, and Lawrence Gillette of Declo - have been invited to lead the grand entry. Scoring Table Towel throwers will be instructed to stand and move to the edge of the mat when 15 seconds remain in the period. With 10 seconds remaining, the thrower will go onto the mat to a position facing the timer. When time expires, the official will be touched or the towel dropped into the wrestlers. T-Shirts / Souvenir Merchandise State tournament t-shirts and other souvenir merchandise will be sold at the tournament site by McU Sports. Towels Towels will not be furnished. Weigh-Ins Official weigh-ins will be conducted at the east entrance floor level of the Idaho Center. Weight Classifications 98, 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160 170, 182, 195, 220, 285. A contestant shall not wrestle more than one weight class above that class of his actual stripped weight at the time of weigh-ins. In accordance with the National Federation rules, one additional pound will be allowed for each consecutive day of competition up to a maximum of two pounds. The following recommendations have been adopted by the IHSAA Board of Directors and will be observed during the state wrestling tournament in regard to blood and bleeding wrestlers on the mat. The Board encourages schools to observe the recommendations in non-state competitions. 1. Provide disposable towels on the mat to be used by wrestlers and officials in case of bleeding. 2. A container in the mat area for the soiled towels. 3. A container of disinfectant or bleach solution at each mat for removal of blood from the mat. Host Hotels / Hotel Conduct See page 2 for a listing of hotels designated as host hotels for the State Wrestling Tournament. We encourage all schools to take advantage of their special rates. Conduct: Each year a few athletes create a bad image for the rest by their uncontrolled behavior in hotels. Coaches should check rooms closely upon arrival and at departure and ensure that their athletes are properly supervised. Seeding Information Every coach must complete a sheet on each wrestler who is entered in the district tournament and file the seeding information with the IHSAA office. Items to include: 1. Complete all information on the seeding forms. 2. Mail or fax forms to the IHSAA office as early as possible - they must be in the IHSAA office by the Saturday before the seeding meeting. 3. Include the opponent’s name 4. Score of a decision. 4 Seeding Criteria 5A: 1st through 6th seeds: 1. Head to head 2. Last years state champion 3. Last years state placers 2nd - 6th (2nd being better than 3rd, etc.) 4. Record against common opponent 5. Overall varsity record (minimum of 15 matches) 6. District champion 4A: 1st through 6th seeds: 1. At-large selection is done at the district level and by the seeding committee in each classification for the state tournament. 2. When schools have two wrestlers in the same weight class, they will be placed in opposite half brackets. 3. If possible, the district champ shall be separated from his district runner-up by being drawn into the opposite half bracket, if it does not change the seeding criteria. 4. Head-to-head competition. 5. Record against common opponent in that weight class. 6. Record against common opponent in different weight class. 7. Highest returning state placer (from the previous year) will receive the higher seed. Where more than one wrestler earned the same place, the wrestler who earned their place at the same or closer weight class will receive the higher seed. 8. Best varsity record (minimum of 15) at that weight class. 9. Best varsity record at that weight. 10. District champion 11. After seeded wrestlers and at-large are determined, all remaining wrestlers will be drawn in. 3A/2A: 1st through 8th seeds: 1. Head-to-head competition 2. Record against common opponents 3. State Champion at the weight or State Runner-up at the same weight. A champion or runner-up at a weight class will have a higher seeding than one moving up or down from another weight class. Example: A state champion at 113 lbs. and a 2nd place wrestler at 126 lbs. when seeding for the 126 lb. class. However, a state champion at the same weight would have higher seeding then a state runner-up at the same weight. 4. Returning state placer 3-6 5. Exceptional or best overall varsity record 6. When a school has two wrestlers in the same weight class, they should be placed in opposite half brackets, if possible. 7. District Champion 8.
