Policy Overview
The City Colleges of Chicago/Daley College has partnered with Sarah E. Goode STEM
Academy to offer college credit classes at Daley campus. Participating students will receive
both college and high school credit (dual credit) for their work. All Goode/Daley students
are expected to abide by the Student Academic and Behavior policy both at Sarah E. Goode
STEM Academy and at Daley College. As a staff, we support all the policies and procedures
outlined in the City of Chicago Student Policy Manual.
All students and parents are
encouraged to read and familiarize themselves with both this Manual and the City of
Chicago Student Policy Manual at Daley. The City of Chicago Student Policy Manual can be
located at:
http://www.ccc.edu/programs/Documents/Early%20College/2013_CCC_Student_Policy_Manual_
090413.pdf.

Student Id
Students are encouraged to wear their Daley Id with their Goode Id and lanyard while
attending classes at Goode. Students must wear their Goode and Daley Id while attending
classes at Daley.
Goode Uniform
Students are required to wear their Goode uniform all day both at Goode and Daley.
However, students have the flexibility to wear jackets and hoodies while at Daley. Upon
arriving back at Goode, students are expected to remove all items that are not a part of the
uniform policy.
Electronic Usage
Students are able to use their electronic devices while travelling to and from Daley. While
riding the shuttle, students must wear earphones to minimize distractions. All Goode
students must adhere to the electronic policy at Daley College and or their professor. Upon
returning to Goode, students are expected to comply with the Goode electronic policy.
Transportation
Students are required to adhere to the shuttle bus boarding schedule. All students are
required to be transported via shuttle bus to and from Daley. All students must be picked
up and dropped off at Sarah E. Goode (parents or any other adult is unable to transport
their child/Goode student to and from Daley – exception when Chicago Public Schools
are closed).
College Resource Center
A College Resource Center has been provided for all Goode/Daley students during their off
time during regular school hours. The College Resource Center is located in the library at
Goode. Goode teachers will help support students with tutorial sessions and supplemental
material to assist with their Daley classes and homework.
Lunch at Goode
Students whose lunch period is within the timeframe the shuttle bus is expected to leave are
able to go directly to the front of the line for their lunch. Once students are finished with
their lunch, they are expected to report to the library in order to depart for the shuttle bus.
Students are allowed to bring snacks for their break(s).
Goode Chaperone
Chaperones are responsible for taking attendance/count of each student boarding the
shuttle bus to and from Daley. After students arrive at Daley, the chaperone will ensure
students arrive to their appropriate classroom. Chaperones remain at Daley throughout the
duration of each class. If students arrive to Daley prior to their class beginning, they will
wait in the cafeteria.
Chaperones will conduct walkthroughs while class is in session to ensure no issues have
surfaced. After class, students are expected to meet the chaperone outside their classroom
to board the bus.
Note: Chaperones are unable to enter a classroom once class is in session.
Section II
Class Withdrawal
Students desiring to withdraw from a course for personal or academic reasons, must first
meet with their counselor (Mrs. Martin or Mr. Fuentes) and Daley’s College Advisor/Goode
Liaison – Ms. Ross. All Goode students should understand that seats were specifically
reserved for Goode students and withdrawing from a course impacts the availability of seats
for other full time college students needing or wanting to take that particular course.
Additionally, withdrawing from a course places a student at a possible risk of not receiving a
high school credit and not being able to enroll in any future City College of Chicago course.
Note: A “Withdrawal” remains permanently on a student’s record.
Academic Expectations at Daley
Students attending Daley must maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CUMGPA) of 2.0 and a letter grade of C or better to remain in good standing. Students who fall
below the minimum CUM-GPA requirement will be placed on academic warning (see
Academic Warning on page 49 of Daley’s Student Manuel).
Behavior Expectations
Students are expected to adhere to Goode’s School Wide Expectation Plan (SWEP) while
travelling to and from Daley and while attending class at Daley. Students in violation of the
SWEP will receive the appropriate consequence (including demerits). If a professor asks a
student to leave his/her class for any reason, the student will be unable to return that day
and his/her status as a Daley student will be reviewed by Goode staff members as well as
the Daley professor if needed.
Reasons for students being dropped from a course(s) at Daley
 Attendance – Students missing more than three days of class per semester.
 Academic warning – Students on academic warning who do not achieve the
minimum cumulative GPA by the end of the probationary term will be academically
dismissed.
 Academic dishonesty – Students who participate in academic dishonesty will
receive consequences ranging from a written warning, failing grade for the course
and or removal from the program. Academic dishonesty is a serious offense, which
includes but is not limited to: cheating, complicity, fabrication and falsification,
forgery and plagiarism (please read page 65 of Daley’s Student Manuel for more
detailed description of these offenses).
 Student misconduct at Daley – If a Goode student continues to disrupt the
educational process and instructional time at Daley, the student will be dropped
from the course.
 Suspensions at Goode – If a student commits an infraction that results in multiple
days of suspension and the missed time impedes on a student’s ability to stay on
track at Daley, this may result in a student being withdrawn/dropped from the
program.
Note: Students who are dropped from a course are faced with a possible risk of not receiving high
school credit and possibly being unable to enroll in any future City College of Chicago course.
Section III
Early Dismissals from Daley
Parents who are requesting an Early Dismissal (ED) for students attending Daley must:
 Report to Sarah E. Goode’s main office and sign his/her child out
 Show their state issued Id (this Id will be scanned & sent to the Goode chaperone)
 Go to Daley to meet with the Goode chaperone to receive their child
Goode Students Appropriate Interaction with Daley Adult Students
To avoid any impropriety, Goode students are to avoid giving their personal contact
information (i.e. telephone number) to adult students at Daley. If Goode students are asked
by their professor to partner with adult students at Daley, he/she should only give their
email address for collaboration purposes. Goode students are prohibited from having
outside contact with adult students at Daley, unless prior parental approval is given.
Additionally, Goode staff members should be informed of this interaction.
Canceled Class at Daley
When a professor cancels his/her class, students will be notified via email and upon arrival
at Goode. Students will spend this time in the library at Goode for additional resource
support.
Breaks at Daley
For those students who are given breaks at Daley, breaks must be taken in the lounge area.
Students are expected to return to class at the time given by their professor. If a chaperone
reports that a Goode student is not complying with the return time to class, the Goode
student will remain in the classroom for his/her break.
Dismissal at Daley
All Goode students are expected to meet their chaperone outside their classroom at
dismissal. If students are unable to locate the chaperone, students are expected to wait for
the chaperone in the cafeteria. In a case of an emergency and no Goode adult is visible, a
student should call Goode’s main office at 773.535.1547.
Afterschool Activities at Goode
All Goode/Daley students who participate in any after-school program (sports or club) are
permitted to re-enter the building and must report to their coach or teacher sponsor.
Section IV
Safety & Security
All Goode students are expected to adhere to the safety & security policy at Daley College as
well as all instructions given by any Goode staff member accompanying them to Daley.
Those students who are not in compliance to the safety procedures will meet with the Chief
Dean at Goode and appropriate consequences will be rendered.
