SUNDBYBERG MUNICIPALITY The exploration potential in the Sundbyberg municipality is strongly limited by houses and other infrastructure. There are no indications of ores or minerals in amounts that could be of commercial interest. The bedrock in Sundbyberg is mainly made up of sediment gneiss and a younger medium grained to fine porphyric granite which is grey-red to red in colour. In the younger granite as well as the sediment gneiss there are smaller inclusions of gneiss-granite (SGU Ba 24). Sundbybergs blygruva (the Sundbyberg lead mine). Close to the crossing between Sturegatan and Skolgatan in Sundbyberg a mineralisation of galena was discovered more than a century ago. It was a galena-bearing dyke that was at most 10 cm wide and cutting through veined gneiss. The discovery was claimed and got an exploitation claim. But any mining does not seem to have taken place. Nowadays the pit is backfilled and there are buildings on the site. Apart from the above-mentioned there are no discoveries of ore or other minerals reported from the municipality and there are no records of exploration permits or claims in modern time.
