FastenthebaseplatesecurelywithtwoanchorsofpreferableM16size,orminimumM12. Otherwisethebasecantwistunderloadandcausemisalignmentbetweendrillbitandhole. 2. Tightenallboltsonthebaseplate,thebackbraceandthetrack.Donotovertightenthetwobolts thatclampsthetracktothebaseplate.Ifovertightened,thetrackTͲslotcanbedeformed,andthen thebaseͲtoͲtrackstabilityiscompromised. 3. Makesuretheeccentricrollersareproperlyadjustedtothetrack.Thiswilleliminateplay.See5.2.2 AdjustingtherollersonFTͲM3FeedunitandRTͲ45Rollerunit. 4. CleanandlightlygreasetheQuickChangecoupling(ifaQCisused),bothQCͲadapterandthe threadsinthedrillbitthreadadapter(ifused).Ifafixedspindleisusedthisshouldalsobecleaned andlightlygreasedaswellasthethreadonthedrillbitorthreadadapter(ifused). 5. Startapproachingthewallwiththedrillbit,withamuchreducedspeedofthedrillbitbyusinga lowgear.Donotusefullspeedtostartwith.Itisnecessarytobeverygentlewhenthedrillbitisfed intothewall.Thefirst10mmarecrucialforsuccessfuldrillingwhenthedrillbitplungesfurtherin.If thedrillbitstartswithamisalignment,thanthismisalignmentwillgrowthedeeperthedrillgoes, endingupinalotoffrictionbetweenthedrillbitinsideandoutsidewall,andthehole.Itiscrucialto getaverygoodalignmentfromthestart.Ifthealignmentisgood,thenthefrictionbetweenthedrill bitandtheholewillbegreatlyreduced,andthetorqueneededtodrilltheholewillbemuchlower. Thiswillminimizeproblemswithtwistingofthetrack. 6.
