PACKAGING 10 & 20Lts (Two component package) 10 & 20Lts (DIY package) Custom packaging available INSTRUCTION FOR USE Surface Preparation Marbelite should at all times be free of oil latencies, dampness and foreign material including existing paints and coatings. Surface preparation may include several options and it is advisable to consult the SP3 Surface preparation guide for fibre glass and other substrates Mixing Procedure The kit is supplied in equal quantities of Activator (A) and Base (B). The Activator is a semi clear fluid and the Base is the desired colour. Only mix the quantity required in a clean container. Stir intermittently for 30 minutes until a uniform structure is achieved. The coating is then ready for use. Application Method Aquateq can be applied with by roller and brush. Care must be taken to use quality brushware for a good finish. The primer coat should be applied liberally, but not to cause “pooling”. The secondary coat can be applied by even strokes, ensuring good coverage. The Sp3 specification may also be consulted for this procedure. Coverage Aquateq is specified at 200microns. Thus 3sqm per litre for the entire system. The primary coat and secondary coat will achieve 6sqm per litre respectively at 200 microns. Pot Life 4 Hours @ 25 degrees Celsius Limitations Aquateq can be applied at substrate temperatures between 12 and 35 Degrees Celsius. Relative humidity is convenient at 50% at 25 Degrees Celsius. Increase in temperature and humidity may affect pot life and finishes. The requirements of this specification should be strictly observed. Where conflicts arise between this specification and the standards quoted the requirements of the specification shall prevail. The Polyamide Cured Epoxy System shall be quoted as AQUATEQ in the document hereafter. 2.0 SCOPE This specification establishes the minimum requirements for the preparation of concrete, application of AQUATEQ, quality handling, storing of AQUATEQ. 3.0 WORKMANSHIP 3.1 Application of AQUATEQ is skilled work and only SHAMROCK INTERNATIONAL (PTY) LTD applicators should be employed for the work. A skilled person who shall be fully conversant with the requirements shall at all times supervise them. 3.2 All materials and workmanship shall be in every respect in accordance with the best modern practices. 4.0 COATING ENVIRONMENT 4.1 Painting shall preferable be done when the temperature is in the range of 15°C to 32°C.The concrete shall be dry and the ambient relative humidity below 50%. 4.2 No painting should take place when the ambient atmosphere falls below 15°C or its humidity rises and exceeds 50%. 4.3 No sandblasting or application of AQUATEQ should take place during inclement weather conditions. 5.0 SURFACE PREPARATION OF AGED MARBELITE, UNPAINTED PLASTER AND CONCRETE 5.1 All surfaces should be swept and be cleaned from al loose debris, dust etc. 5.2 Oils, grease, animal fats, protein fats etc. should be removed from the surface with a suitable surfactant or solvent degreaser. Quantity of treatments and dilution of surfactants is to be subject to the severity of the contamination of oils etc. 5.3 Solvent degreasers should be used in accordance with a surfactant to reduce risks of contamination of surrounding areas. 5.4 All solvents and surfactants are then to be removed from the surface appropriately. 5.5 The surface should be acid etched to ensure a general surface profile and a good degree of cleanliness. Only commercial quality acids should be used for this purpose and according to specific dilution scales. 5.6 Al excess diluted acids are then to be removed from the concrete surface. 5.7 High pressure cleaning must be incorporated to ensure a water break free surface. The equipment should not be rated below the following: 200 Bar and delivery 18lt/min. 5.8 Appropriate nozzles should be used with ratings between N2502 N2505 with a nominal 60-Degree flare. Oscillating or pulsating nozzles can be used, subject to the substrate condition. 5.9 PH balance strips should be used for spot checks of the water during the washing procedure to ensure an acceptable level. 5.10 All excess water is to be removed manually or by means of industrial vacuum. 5.11 The concrete should be left to dry thoroughly. No moisture should at any time be apparent. 6.0 SURFACE PREPARATION OF PAINTED SUBSTRATES 6.1 On the initial inspection, it is required that the type and age of the existing coating should be specified. 6.2 The methods below should be used, relating itself to the environment, safety aspects and accessibility. Al excess paint strippers are to be removed from the area completely and according to safety regulations. All abrasion methods should be in conformance with AQUATEQ requirements ensuring a good general grade of cleanliness. 7.0 SURFACE PREPARATION OF NEW CONCRETE 7.1 When possible, new concrete should be floated with wooden trawls to ensure an initial surface profile. 7.2 New concrete should be left to full cure for no less than 28 days prior to any type of preparation or coating procedures. Under no conditions should any preparation or coating procedure be performed on “green” cement. 7.3 New concrete is subject to preparation procedure 5 above. 8.0 SURFACE PREPERATION OF FIBRE GLASS 8.1 All surfaces should be swept and be cleaned from al loose debris, dust etc. 8.2 Oils, grease, animal fats, protein fats etc. should be removed from the surface with a suitable surfactant or solvent degreaser. Quantity of treatments and dilution of surfactants is to be subject to the severity of the contamination of oils etc. 8.3 Manually sand the entire are with a coarse grade sandpaper, “cutting” the surface for maximum adhesion. 8.4 Remove all sanding dust completely. 9.0 COATING WITH AQUATEQ 9.1 AQUATEQ should be applied with genuine sheepskin rollers or airless spray gun techniques where applicable. 9.2 Al areas surrounding machinery, walls, drains etc should be coated manually by brush to ensure adequate definition. 9.3 AQUATEQ is only to be applied to areas subjected to specified cleaning procedures above. 9.4 Under no circumstances should any solvents be added to AQUATEQ. 9.5 AQUATEQ should not be applied over any surfaces, systems etc. that will adversely affect the performance of any item or component. 9.6 Intermediate layers are available in contrasting colours for easy identification. 9.7 A minimum application of two coats of AQUATEQ should be applied for an average D.F.T. of approximately 200 microns. 9.8 Non-slip filers should be added to the primary coat.
