Originally founded in London in 1959,
Letraset has been manufacturing and
supplying innovative media to the design
industry for over 50 years.
When our Dry Transfer Lettering system was
first launched in 1961, designers called the
process ‘a revolution in the studio’ and
Letraset went on to become a household
name in the field of commercial design.
Dry Transfers (or ‘Rubdowns’) enabled
commercial artists to produce high
quality headlines quickly and easily
by transferring pre-printed letters
directly onto artwork.
This simple to use and efficient system
lives on today, and still remains the best way
to apply professional lettering by hand.
When computerisation made its huge
impact on the design world in the mid
1980s, Letraset continued to adapt,
investing in new technology and
converting our extensive typeface
range into digital format.
We also went on to develop
our range of professional markers
for designers, which soon
became adopted as an
essential studio tool for
quick visualisation and
concept work.

ProMarker
ProMarkers are the perfect introduction to colouring with
alcohol based markers, combining unbeatable performance with
outstanding value. They’re ideal for all kinds of art and craft,
including illustration, Manga and Comic Art, Rubberstamping,
Scrapbooking… anywhere you need professional looking colour.
ProMarkers have two in-built nibs, with
a fine bullet tip for detailing and a wider,
chisel shaped nib for colouring in
larger areas.
The high quality dyes used in ProMarkers
ensure flawless colour lay down, with
outstanding vibrancy and tonal variation.
Unlike ordinary felt tipped pens or low
grade markers, ProMarker colour appears
perfectly even with no unsightly streaking.

ProMarker colours to produce new colours
and, depending on how wet the ink is,
smooth transitions can be achieved.
A special ProMarker Blender is available
separately and can be used to soften and
merge colours together.
ProMarker offers an extensive palette of
148 colours, ranging from subtle pastels
though to bold vibrant hues. All colours
are named and referenced within Letraset’s
HSL colour space (see page 14). Retail
merchandising is available for single

AquaMarker
AquaMarkers are twin-tipped artist’s markers offering all the
advantages of water-based, pigmented colour. They’re ideal
for a wide range of arts and crafts including Rubberstamping,
Scrapbooking and water-colour style illustration.
AquaMarkers have two integral nibs – Fine
and Medium. The medium nib is rounded
for a softer art surface feel whilst the fine
tip is narrower and can be used when
applying more detailed line work.

AquaMarker’s pigmented colours
provide rich, saturated hues and also
have the advantage of providing
superior light fastness. Pigment
colour is naturally produced and
acid free.
Being water soluble, AquaMarkers can
be easily blended, giving similar results
to water-colour paints but with the
added convenience and control of a
marker. Dilute with water and a brush or
alternatively a handy portable solution
is available in the form of the
AquaMarker Blender.

Tria is the only marker to incorporate 3
integral nibs - Broad, Brush and Ultra-fine.
The broad nib is used for blocking in large
colour fills whilst the brush has a flexible

They use the highest quality colour dyes

variation. The ink is alcohol based and
permanent and has been certified nontoxic to meet US and EU standards.
Tria Markers are refilled using a unique
cartridge based system. When the ink is
used up, the barrel section can be replaced
with a new Tria Cartridge, avoiding the
need for messy liquid ink refills.
All Tria’s nibs and barrel components are
easily interchangeable, allowing for a
customised nib setup to suit individual
requirement.

Colour Space
The full Letraset colour space incorporates 300 colours
based on the universal colour model HSL
(Hue, Saturation and Luminosity).
Hue, Saturation and Luminosity are the
three basic elements for determining any
colour and can be expressed numerically,
making them easy to identify and control.
HSL is an intuitive colour system based on
the human perception of colour. It is
also widely used in many graphic
software applications.

navigate around the Letraset colour space.
Letraset marker colours are HSL
referenced using a three digit
alphanumeric code.
On a Tria Marker, the HSL code is the
primary colour reference, and can be
found on the marker’s end caps.
On a ProMarker, this code can be found
just below the colour name.

The second number refers to
O277 saturation, meaning how vivid the
colour will appear. The saturation
scale runs from 1-9, with low level colours
appearing very dull and higher levels very
rich and vibrant.

Remember: it’s not essential to use
HSL, but it can be a really useful way
to select colour accurately and avoid
surprises. Even just referring to a
colour’s saturation and luminosity
values gives a clearer picture of how
it will perform.
O277 determines luminosity, i.e. how
light or dark the colour will
appear. Luminosity also runs from 1-9,
with a low number being dark and a higher
number being light.

Adhesives
LetraTac and LetraTac Super work side by side to offer a
complete adhesive solution. In sheet format, LetraTac provides
re-positionable adhesive for sticking paper and card cleanly
and accurately with no mess or odour.
LetraTac
A uniquely versatile ‘dry-tac’ adhesive for
mounting paper and card. Easy to use,
LetraTac works by transferring a fine layer
of adhesive dots to the back of your
artwork, offering full edge to edge
adhesion with the ability to stick even the
smallest most intricate shape.
To use LetraTac, simply lift the overlay
sheet and place your item onto the
adhesive. Then re-cover with the overlay
sheet and rub over with the yellow
burnisher (included in the pack) to
transfer an even coat of adhesive.
There’s no mess or odour, LetraTac goes
only where you want it and any excess
can be easily brushed away. It also allows
items to be re-positioned several times,
before burnishing down firmly for a
permanent, acid-free bond.
LetraTac is available in A3, A4 and A5
sizes. The larger variants are ideal for
display and presentation mounting whilst
the smaller A5 size is suitable for craft
pastimes.

gives a super high strength adhesive
bond that will stick just about
anything. It’s ideal for heavier weight
items and craft embellishments and
can be used on most everyday
materials including wood, textile,
metal, glass, plastic, paper, card, etc.
Double Sided Tapes
In addition to LetraTac sheets and tape,
Letraset offers three types of doublesided tapes – High and Low Tack and the
innovative Dual Tack. Ideal for temporary
or permanent solutions for studio, office,
displays and exhibitions.
Low Tack allows
re-positioning
and is practical
for short term
mounting and
display. Post
your notes and
pictures where
you want them to be seen.
Despite its super strength, any
surplus LetraTac Super can be easily
brushed away, there’s no mess and no
odour and it will go only where
required. It also has superior
transparency, making it particularly
useful for applying translucent
materials like vellum papers.
To use LetraTac Super, simply peel
back the tape to expose the adhesive
and then use firm finger pressure to
transfer onto your item. Alternatively,
trim a piece of tape to the required
size, press down firmly onto the work
surface then lift away to leave the
adhesive behind.
The item can then be positioned
onto the exposed adhesive and it will
bond securely.
