If you took the "old" NCCP Level 1 Theory course before it
changed to "NCCP Competition Introduction - Part A" you need
to take this workshop. In order to maintain your Level 1
certification you must take the Making Ethical Decisions (MED)
course and complete the online evaluation before January 2015.
If you do not complete the course and online evaluation your
coaching status will change from "certified" to "trained". This
may impact your coaching responsibilities. If you have
completed the Gymnastic Foundations Theory OR NCCP
Competition Introduction Part A, you have already completed
this course. If you are unsure of which training you have
completed, please review your transcripts at www.coach.ca or
contact AGF. Take it today and get it out of the way!

Personality preferences influence both the coach and the
athlete being coached. Making subtle changes to one’s
awareness of why athletes act they way they do, while others
respond completely differently, enables coaches to channel that
behavior in a more positive, focused manner while building the
athlete’s self-esteem and confidence.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
In young athletes who are still training to develop skill and have
fun an important mental component is self awareness. I will
discuss how to implement energy control strategies, the use of
cue words to foster skill development, and the use of goal
setting, in order to improve self awareness. These mental skills
are building blocks to more advanced mental requirements at
higher competitive levels.
