Maid, 21, in rape
and vice ordeal
Email: [email protected]
A 21-YEAROLD woman
was
allegedly
held
captive
by
four different
pimps, raped
and forced
to work as a
prostitute for
two months.
She said she
was forced to
sleep with up to 20 men a day for BD9 each.
The Indonesian maid described the harrowing
ordeal to prosecutors after she managed to make
contact with police, who raided an apartment
where she was allegedly being held.
She said one of the four suspects, a 31-year-old
from Bangladesh, initially convinced her to run
away from her employer’s Manama home after
she experienced ill treatment.
The victim said he promised to find her a better
job, but instead took her to an apartment in Jurdab where he allegedly held her against her will,
raped her and made her have sex with 20 men a
day for BD9 each.
He then allegedly sold her for BD200 to his
co-defendant, a 46-year-old Pakistani, who she
By NOOR ZAHRA
also said raped her and forced her to sleep with
clients – before he too sold her for BD200 to another pimp from Bangladesh, who is also accused
of raping her and forcing her into the vice trade.
She said she was then sold to a fourth man,
also from Bangladesh, for BD200 – but said he
neither raped her nor forced her into prostitution.
The four men, who have been charged with
inciting prostitution, rape, human trafficking,
hostage taking and assault, appeared in the High
Criminal Court for the first time yesterday to
plead not guilty.
“I met him (the first alleged captor) over the
phone,” she said in her statement.

fashion weekend at mall
“He initially called my mobile phone and it
was a wrong number, but he kept on calling me
and we became friends.
“I told him I was being badly treated by my
sponsor’s wife and he told me there were better
jobs out there that he could hook me up with.
“He then convinced me to escape and picked
me up in his car.
“We went to his apartment in Jurdab, where I
saw two other Indonesian women, and he asked
me to have sex with him.
“I refused, but he forced me to have sex with
him after beating me up.
“I was a virgin, but he put a knife to my mouth
and threatened to kill me, cut me up into pieces
and throw me in the sewers.
“He raped me twice on the same day and then
forced me to have sex with 20 men on a daily basis.
“He took BD9 from each man and locked me
up in the apartment.
“I gave him BD130 to send to my mother in
Indonesia, but he only sent her BD60.
“He then sold me to a Pakistani man for
BD200.”
She said her ordeal continued in the apartment
rented by the Pakistani in the same area.
“The Pakistani man I was sold to also tied me
up and raped me three times a day,” she said.
“He also forced me to have sex with 10 to 20
Bangladeshi men a day.
“I was then taken to a third apartment in Salmaniya, where I was sold for a third time for
BD200 to another Bangladeshi man.
“He also raped me and forced me to have sex
with customers.”
She said she was then sold to a fourth man,
who she described as being good to her.
“The fourth man, a Bangladeshi, bought me
for BD200 but was good to me,” she said.
“He treated me well and did not rape me or
bring men to have sex with me.”
The trial was adjourned until November 13 for
review.
