In order to reach our culture, many Christians have tried to sell Jesus as the one who can make your dreams come true or give you your best life now. But in Matthew 16:21-28, Jesus calls us to a new kind of life. A life focused not on ourselves and our fulfillment. He goes so far as to tell us that we need to lose our current life if we are to ever find the true life he offers. This true life requires submission, suffering, and ultimately the death of our old selves so the new can live. ! Scripture encourages all of us to carry each others burdens (Galatians 6:2). You would bless us by letting us walk with you during this time. ! WEEKLY PRAYER GROUPS meets on Sunday at 9:00AM in the Prayer Room, which is located off the east side of the sanctuary and on Wednesday nights at 6:30PM in room 202. All are welcome to attend. Hannah Kuria’s as she prepares for heart surgery which is scheduled for October 15 in Texas. ! I WOULD LIKE to thank my Zion family for all of the cards, meals, and other acts of kindness shown following my recent surgery. I am especially thankful for your prayers and felt the power of them. Recovery is slow but is going well. The doctor was able to perform both phases of the surgery at once so no further surgery will be required. Praise God! Tammey Geenen !
