Sing HU to Open Your Heart
HU is an ancient name for God.
When you sing HU, you open
your heart to the Light and
Sound of God.
Here is a simple spiritual
exercise to try: First, close your
eyes and look gently to a point
between your eyebrows. Then,
softly sing HU (pronounced
like the word “hue”). Now sit
quietly for a few minutes.
Watch and listen for the
presence of God. It may come
as a Light or a Sound, or in
some other way.

from all that had gone on in my life.
I had been having a difficult time
dropping into a deeper place in
myself during my contemplations,
my everyday life and connecting
deeper with the Mahanta. This
place helped me relax and trust
enough to accomplish this.
Friday Night HU Chant
Friday, Oct. 10, 7 p.m.
Reno ECK Center
Beginning in October, on the
second Friday of the month, we
will hold a HU Chant from 7 to
7:30 p.m.
You are all invited to join us,
bring a friend, ECKist or not.
Everyone is welcome.

My original home was Northern
Minnesota and I had missed it so
much – my beloved lake, the
moisture, trees, fauna and a more
natural way of life. I had moved out
of Reno because of the fast pace
in Fallon, thinking that would help,
and it was much easier for me
there. I stayed on a 10-acre ranch
with lots of trees, and it helped
ever so much for a couple of
years. The owners notified me that
they were moving, and I had one

It Is Already Given
I have been reading Anne Archer
Butcher’s book, Inner Guidance,
Our Divine Birthright. There is one
chapter in which she addresses
the idea that whatever we desire is
already given. This brought back
memories of the many gifts from
the Divine that have been given to
me without even knowing I had
created them. One experience in
particular happened years ago,
and was such a welcome and
much-needed gift at the time.
I had often looked back wondering
how this had come to be. I hadn’t
done the usual visualizing and
mental creating. I had just had
these events—so gentle loving
thoughts in my heart to be in
nature and to love where I was
living and to rest. It had already
been given to me, and I had not
realized that I had been creating
this all along. I remembered the
gentle loving thoughts I had in my
heart to experience this.

The ECK and the Mahanta work in
such wonderful ways. I kept
looking for another place, but
nothing seemed right. One day I
had an inner nudge to call a man
who had a spiritual retreat at the
base of Mount Rose, and offered
to be caretaker of this magnificent
place. He welcomed this and I
moved in within a week.
I became caretaker of 6,000
square feet of architectural
splendor with two domes, a
connecting solarium, a creek that
flowed all year round within 30 feet
of the center, with trees, fauna,
negative ions from the creek, a
wonderful wood stove and a
generator for electricity. I spent a
year there and realized how deeply
I had needed to have a respite

Light and Sound
of God?
The Light and Sound, known
as the ECK or Holy Spirit,
flow out from the heart of
God.
The Light purifies Soul. It
helps us see our lives from a
higher viewpoint. The Sound
is always calling us home. It
shows us the direction back
to God.
With practice, we learn to
recognize these twin aspects
of God all around us. The
Holy Spirit teaches us in the
smallest details of our lives.
