Remembrance Day Parade

15th Romsey (North Baddesley) Scout Group
Remembrance Day Parade
Sunday 9th November 2014: 9:30 to 11:10am. All Saints Church
for all Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers & Leaders
Remembrance Day and St George’s Day are the most important and visible acts of public
duty that we perform as a Scout Group and we expect members and parents to make this
small sacrifice of time only twice a year. We make this clear when you join the Scout
Group.
Local youth football clubs and leagues have a longstanding agreement to avoid fixtures which clash with
Remembrance Day Parades; we therefore do not consider attending such football matches a valid alternative and
would suggest that organisers of any such matches are demonstrating a deep lack of respect. We do however
appreciate that strong efforts are being made by local club officials to move some matches out of the way that have
been organised inadvertently.
All Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Leaders should be at All Saints Church (Rownhams Road,
North Baddesley) by 9:30am.
Those selected to carry flags should assemble in the hall (to the right as you enter). If the
weather is fine all others should meet outside with your Leader. If wet, please go into the
church and sit with your section. Please do not wait in the foyer area as it gets very
crowded. The service starts at 9:45.
Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Leaders should wear full smart uniform, with clean shoes. All
scarves should be neatly folded or rolled – not screwed up. Please make sure you are
wearing all your badges. If you do not have uniform, then wear smart clothes. Those
carrying flags need to be especially smart. There will be a collection for the Royal British
Legion.
This year the police have again agreed to control traffic in Nutburn Road so that the church
procession to the war memorial at St John’s can take place safely. We will leave All Saints
to walk up to the war memorial at St John’s ready for the 2 minutes silence at 11 o’clock.
After the service finishes at St John’s, the youngsters can be collected by parents, or walk
back to All Saints with the leaders. If you are taking children from the war memorial at St
John’s please make sure their Section Leader knows. We should be back at All Saints by
about 11:20am. Refreshments will be available at All Saints Church immediately afterwards
and all are welcome.
Any queries to your section leader please or ring John Evans on 07770 385881.
