This Sunday, we welcome to our pulpit the Reverend Dr. Jack Haberer, former editor of The Presbyterian Outlook. The Outlook has been known as a “thought leader” of the Presbyterian Church and has been published for 65 years in Richmond, VA. It is an outgrowth of other publications that date back to 1818. A native of New Jersey, Jack has served congregations in Florida and Texas. He was the pastor at the Clear Lake Presbyterian Church in Houston, TX, for 12 years. During that time he served as chair of the board of two national organizations, The Presbyterian Coalition, and later, Presbyterians for Renewal. He authored two books, Godviews: The Convictions that Drive Us and Divide Us, and Living the Presence of the Spirit. Jack is widely known for his skills in bridge-building and bringing reconciliation. He has served on three denominational task forces: The Unity and Diversity Conference Planning Committee, The Task Force on the Peace, Unity and Purity of the Church, and the Washington Office Study Task Force.
