I share it with you for your own reflection and spiritual growth. It is one of the many spiritual activities that this great saint developed so that we may meditate, contemplate and pray in a way that we will come to know God in all things, even in our suffering. I hope praying with it proves to be a fruitful experience for you. Have a blessed week. Yours In Christ, Fr. John Nordeman The goal of our life is to live with God forever. God, who loves us, gave us life. Our own response of love allows God's life to flow into us without limit. All the things in this world are gifts of God, presented to us so that we can know God more easily and make a return of love more readily. As a result, we appreciate and use all these gifts of God insofar as they help us develop as loving persons. But if any of these gifts become the center of our lives, they displace God and so hinder our growth toward our goal. In everyday life, then, we must hold ourselves in balance before all of these created gifts insofar as we have a choice and are not bound by some obligation. We should not fix our desires on health or sickness, wealth or poverty, success or failure, a long life or short one. For everything has the potential of calling forth in us a deeper response to our life in God. Our only desire and our one choice should be this: I want and I choose what better leads to God's deepening his life in me. --St. Ignatius as adapted by Joseph Tetlow, S.J., Choosing Christ in the World Do you have questions or concerns that you would like to share with the Transition Team? YOU CAN SEND AN E-MAIL TO THE TRANSITION TEAM! In order to facilitate communication with your transition team, there is now available an e-mail for any questions or feedback. As a school community we model the Gospel values of faith, hope and love to lead our students to a deep and meaningful relationship with GOD. We challenge our students to value SCHOLARSHIP as a life-long love of learning. We lay the foundation for our students to become caring, responsible members of the global COMMUNITY. We lead our students to reach out to others through acts of charity and SERVICE in our parishes and neighborhoods. This is the MISSION of Good Shepherd Catholic School. GSC has all the advantages of a private school experience, but without the private school cost! Come join us! Chick-fil-A … It’s that time to enjoy a tasty meal at Chick-fil-A. Support Good Shepherd Catholic School students through Opportunity Scholarships The OSTC Program is like free money for GSC from the State of PA . . . Would you be willing to use your Pennsylvania Business Tax Dollars to help Good Shepherd Catholic School students? If you are a business owner, you can by directing to GSC State taxes you already pay. Perhaps your employer would be willing to help a Good Shepherd student. . . Please provide me with the name of a contact person at your place of employment (the President, CEO, or CFO); Sister Patricia and I are happy to make the direct connection. Your OSTC, Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit, donations are tuition scholarships provided to Good Shepherd Catholic School students. Sister Patricia and I manage the scholarship program for GSC. Our external Scholarship Organization, BLOCS, is the non-profit organization that receives the funds from the State and forwards them directly to GSC. BLOCS is recognized and accredited by the State of PA and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to complete this work. Donations received are given directly to the school and can only be used for tuition assistance purposes as regulated by the State. On average, 35 % of our school families are in need of help. The Pennsylvania OSTC Program allows you as a business owner, or your employer, to help Good Shepherd students by providing you with tax credits of up to 75% or 90% of your total contribution. Your contribution is your tax dollars. This is money you, or your employer, already pay to the State. By submitting a 1-page on-line application, and with return authorization received from the State, you can direct your State taxes dollars to Good Shepherd Catholic School. It is a very easy process, Sister Patricia and I are committed to managing the entire process on your, or your employer’s, behalf; beginning with the 1st step – the on-line application. GSC HAS A MASCOT!… The GSC Ram will visit classrooms next week, and engage students in a contest to give the “Ram” a name.
