I
General
The aim of these tests, which are performed on a voluntary basis for the manufacturer,
is to make an assessment in terms of material composition and indoor air hygiene of interior plaster with regard to sanitary harmlessness.
To reach this aim, the total product is tested for its allergenic potential and its toxic potential.
II Basis for the test
The tests and examinations to be performed before the TÜV NORD test mark is issued
are based on the recognised technical rules and standards, such as ISO and DIN standards and VDI regulations. In addition, the recognised medical / allergological test
methods relevant to dealing with such problems are used.
The tests and examinations are conducted among other things in accordance with

Basic tests
1
Measurement of the allergenic potential
All ticking, foam components, adhesives as well as the total product are determined using
the Basophile Degranulation Test.
2
Investigations of the total product regarding the toxicological harmlessness
Preliminary remarks
1. All tests are performed on representative complete product samples.
2. For substances according to the test points III.2.7.1 to III.2.7.7 emission chamber tests
are performed after 72 hours and – if necessary – after 28 days. The examined sample is under pulsation load.
3. Substances according to the test point III.2.7 which are determined by screening are
quantified by internal or external standards; only substances for which no standards are
available a semi-quantitative estimation of their concentrations is done. In this case, the
peak areas are interpreted by toluene equivalents.

IV
Test mark
1 Taking the results as per III and provided the assessment criteria specified in V are
fulfilled, TÜV NORD hereby grants permission to use the TÜV NORD test mark.
2 TÜV NORD will draw up a certificate and release it for duplication for informative
and marketing purposes.
3 The scope of services to be provided by TÜV NORD relates to the foam mattress
submitted for testing. If there are changes in the product, esp. changes of material
components, which could have an impact on the allergological or toxicological characteristics of the product, the basis tests described in III must be performed again.
4 Use of the TÜV NORD test mark involves an annual test of a sample of the foam
mattress taken from production or storage by TÜV NORD.
5 Changes of the composition of the foam mattress , which have no impact regarding
the allergolocical and toxicological characteristics of the product, are tested free of
additional charge in the scope of services provided for the periodic tests.
6 If defects are found during the periodic tests, they must be rectified within three
months.
