MegaRAC Product Catalog American Megatrends - A Worldwide Leader in Remote Management Innovations About AMI About AMI American Megatrends Inc. (AMI) creates and manufactures key hardware and software solutions for the global computer marketplace, providing the highest quality and compatibility necessary to build today’s advanced computing systems. Established in 1985, AMI’s mission is to design state-of-the-art computer solutions and develop advanced technology for the best computing solutions in the world. Today, AMI is the world’s largest BIOS firmware vendor. About MegaRAC® MegaRAC® is a successful product line of Service Processors providing complete outof-band, also known as Lights-out, remote management for servers and workstations. MegaRAC® Service Processors come in a wide variety of formats such as PCI cards, embedded modules and software-only products. All these have one thing in common: MegaRAC® products enable you to access your mission critical servers and workstations remotely. It doesn’t matter how far away you are. You can be a few feet away or thousands of miles away. Nor does your system’s status matter. MegaRAC® products allow you access even if your system has locked up or powered down. Our Service Processors are utilized to provide complete Out-of-Band access to computer systems independently of the Operating System status or location to troubleshoot computers and assure continuity of service. History of MegaRAC® In 1998, AMI introduced the MegaRAC® remote management controller for mission critical servers and workstations. The second generation card, MegaRAC® G2, provided console redirection in a time before Remote Desktop’s widespread use. Some of its more advanced features included a battery backup, remote power cycle, remote power down, remote power up, serial port redirection and internal modem. In 2002, the server and PC industry started to increasingly incorporate Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI). Because of this, AMI launched the MegaRAC® PM Firmware Solution to take advantage of IPMI in the industry. In 2007, with the development of powerful chip-based integrated Baseboard Management Controllers (BMC), the focus of AMI shifted to providing firmware-based service processor solutions. MegaRAC® SP was launched. MegaRAC® SP’s firmware implemented IPMI 2.0, complete Keyboard, Video and Mouse (KVM) console redirection and remote media for System-on-Chip (SoC). www.ami.com p. 1 Specifications subject to change without notice. Users no longer have to compromise on performance, as SnapVDI is guaranteed to provide a rich user experience, even at HD resolution. Moreover, backup and recovery is built-in right into the solution, with added optional failover capability for complete data security. The solution is available in three distinct hardware configurations at different capacities to serve the widest possible range of VDI performance needs: Snap VDI Sense, an economical entry point into the world of VDI for up to 10 users; mid-range Snap VDI Endeavour, for a strong balance of performance and cost for up to 60 users; and highend Snap VDI Resolute, with top-of-the-line performance for up to 120 users. Product Highlights: • • • • • • • • • Faster than a desktop: Entire VDI boots up in seconds Instant application launch and access Seamless user experience: High fidelity even at HD resolution (1920 x 1080) 90% less storage required than a typical VDI solution Intelligent, on-the-fly backup and disaster recovery built-in Designed for scalability and performance Improved productivity with less down time 10x more desktops per configuration Faster VM provisioning and cloning SnapVDI is Secure All user data is stored in the data center instead of locally on each client. Mouse and keyboard actions are returned to the server over a secure channel, which are all encrypted. The entirety of an organization’s data resides in a secure environment on highly redundant systems. SnapVDI is Green Computing environments based on VDI deployments use significantly less power then traditional ones. In fact, SnapVDI uses just 5-7 Watts of power. When transitioning from a traditional infrastructure, 534.63 KWh of energy is saved per SnapVDI seat a year. SnapVDI is Centralized SnapVDI eliminates the need for IT administrators to deal with desktops on an individual basis. The administrator can upgrade, install and refresh hundreds of nodes all from one central, remote location. With SnapVDI, the manageability software comes built-in. www.ami.com p. 2 Specifications subject to change without notice. See www.ami.com or call 1-800-U-BUY-AMI for details.
