Southern New Mexico
Whole Enchilada Fiesta — The 34th
annual festival is Sept. 26-28, at Meerscheidt
Recreation Center, 600 E. Hadley in Las
Cruces. Opening ceremonies are 5:30 p.m.
Friday, with building of the “Whole enchilada”
at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Admission: $10 at the

contest, classic car show, “Enchilada Land” for
kids and a karaoke contest.
The Whole Enchilada 5K race and 1-mile runs
begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Meersheidt
Recreation center.
Tough Enough to Wear Pink Week —
NMSU breast cancer awareness week events
are Sept. 28-Oct. 4, throughout the NMSU
campus and in Las Cruces, hosted by Cowboys
for Cancer Research. Activities conclude with a
halftime appearance during the NMSU football
game vs. Georgia at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at

Sunday, in the Rhodes-Garrett-Hamiel lawn,
featuring more than 6,000 luminarias.

luncheon is 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday,
in the Pan American Center. Lunch seating

The Cervantes family 5K/10K Fun Run/Walk is

Southern New Mexico State Fair —
The fair is Wednesday through Sunday, Oct. 15, at the Doña Ana County Fairgrounds, 12
miles west of Las Cruces off I-10. Admission to

Aspenfest — The Village of Ruidoso’s celebration of fall colors is Saturday and Sunday,
Oct. 4-5. This year’s theme is “Salute to
Freedom: Aspenfest Style.” Events include a
chili cook-off, arts and crafts fair, street vendors, Aspenfest Parade and vintage car show.

October Art Fest — The 37th annual
Octoberfest Juried Art Show is 10 a.m. to 5
p.m Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 4-5, at Zenith
Park in Cloudcroft, N.M. The show features
all-original art, pottery, jewelry and homemade

Pinos Altos October Fiesta — The
mountain village of Pinos Altos, N.M. will host
its 15th annual fall fiesta 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 4. Most events are in the historic Main Street area. The fair offers live
entertainment, children’s activities, arts and
crafts, collectibles, gold-panning, reenactments,
antiques and food vendors. Proceeds benefit
the Pinos Altos Volunteer Fire Department.

The Grant County Art Guild (housed near
Main Street in the Hearst Church) will have an
arts & craft sale/exhibit. The Pinos Altos
Museum also will be open.
Pinos Altos, a mining town founded in 1860, is
seven miles north of Silver City on NM 15.
St. Clair Vineyards WineFest — New
Mexico’s largest winery will host its 20th annual
wine fest noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday,
Oct. 4-5, at 1325 DeBaca Road in Deming.
Proceeds benefit Luna County Cancer Support.

Deming, go a half-mile south, turn east on

WNMU Parade — The Western New
Mexico University Homecoming Parade begins
at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, in downtown
Silver City. The annual parade includes floats,

— The annual fair is Oct. 8-12 at the Luna
