How To Be Rich
“Command those who are rich in this present world
not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth,
which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God,
who richly provides us with everything for our
enjoyment. Command them to do good deeds, and to
be generous and willing to share.”
1 Timothy 6:17-18
Have you read these words of
Paul before? Ever
feel that you could just skip over them and figure that they
were meant for someone else, someone who’s rich? I have,
and that is a mistake.
On the 26th of October, we will begin a new sermon series
titled “How To Be Rich”. We will see if this scripture applies
to us, or if it is just meant for those who have more than us.
We will also see through this study that generosity and
compassion were fundamental practices of the early church, so
much so, it captured the attention of the pagan world around
them. We will also learn how this applies to the Church today.
For the Cause of Christ,
Jason

How to
Pack a Shoebox
1) Shoe Box
Use an empty shoe box (standard size, please) or a small plastic
container. You can wrap the box (lid separately), but wrapping is
not required. Most importantly, pray for the child who will receive
your gift.
2) Boy or Girl
Determine whether your gift will be for a boy or a girl, and the
child’s age category: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. Print out the appropriate
boy/girl label by downloading the artwork at the bottom. Mark the
correct age category on the label, and tape the label to the top of
your box.
3) Fill with Gifts
Fill the box with a variety of gifts that will bring delight to a child. Use the gift ideas provided on the bottom of this page.
4) Include $7 Donation
Please donate $7 or more for each shoe box you prepare to help
cover shipping and other project costs. You can give online by
using our “Follow Your Box Donation” option, or you can write a
check to Samaritan’s Purse (note “OCC” on memo line) and place
it in an envelope on top of the gift items inside your box. If you or
your family are preparing more than one shoe box, please make
one combined donation.
5) Drop Off
Place a rubber band around each closed shoe box and drop it off at
the church NO LATER THAN Sunday, November 16.
National collection week is November 17-24, 2013.
