1st CHRISTIAN C H U RAbilene CH October Newsletter 2014 How To Be Rich “Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.” 1 Timothy 6:17-18 Have you read these words of Paul before? Ever feel that you could just skip over them and figure that they were meant for someone else, someone who’s rich? I have, and that is a mistake. On the 26th of October, we will begin a new sermon series titled “How To Be Rich”. We will see if this scripture applies to us, or if it is just meant for those who have more than us. We will also see through this study that generosity and compassion were fundamental practices of the early church, so much so, it captured the attention of the pagan world around them. We will also learn how this applies to the Church today.
