The 2014 Advisors' Workshop is on Monday, November 3rd, 2014. This workshop is held at the same time
as the MAHS/MASC Leadership Forum at Arrowwood Resort in Alexandria. It is a great opportunity for advisor professional development while your students are participating in the Forum. CEU’s will be available at the
workshop conclusion.
The cost for the advisors’ workshop is $95.00, this includes workshop registration, materials, continental
breakfast, and lunch. It is a day filled with advisor information, professional development, networking and getting new ideas. Tom Heethuis will be the presenter for MAHS and MASC advisors. Tom is one of the top advisor presenters in the country. He has been a finalist is both the Earl Reum and Warren E. Shull national awards.
After a highly recognized career as a science teacher, activities director, assistant principal and principal, Tom is
currently a consultant for the Michigan Association of Student Councils and Honor Societies. Tom’s presentation will be hands on and practical for both honor societies and student councils.
Many schools will travel to Arrowwood the night before the Forum. This year we will start the forum at 6 pm
with a keynote from the students’ presenter, Patrick Mauer. Rooms are at last year’s rate of $89.00 plus tax. You
can pre-order a pizza buffet on your housing reservation form. After Patrick’s keynote, the students will participate in a mixer at 8:30 p.m. and a dance from 9:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. There will be a breakfast buffet offered
in the restaurant for your students. This is not part of the forum registration. The Arrowwood room reservation
form is available on the MAHS/MASC website (www.masc-mahs.org).
Schools are responsible for making their own room reservations.
