Please join us on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 8:00 am in the Parent Center. Parents will visit classrooms with Principal
Dave LeMaster from 8:15 am - 9:00 am, and then will return to the Parent Center to discuss what they saw.
Wear your Bronco Blue! Bronco wear will be available during the “Coffee” in the Parent Center.

“TEAM RED, WHITE AND BLUE” HONORED AT TONIGHT’S GAME
At tonight’s football game, Veterans from Team RWB and our community will be honored. A check
presentation will be made from donations received at the 2014 12-Hour Relay Race. Anyone wearing a Team
RWB T-Shirt will receive a FREE bag of popcorn.
PSAT - OCT. 15
The PSAT will be administered on Wednesday, Oct. 15 from 7:30 am to 10:20 am. It is the expectation that all
sophomores will take the exam. Class lists will be posted on the Registrar’s window. The revised bell schedule
for the week is on www.rbhs.org.
GIRLS LACROSSE
The RBHS Girls Lacrosse team is looking for new and experienced players to come out this spring and try the
fastest game on two feet! No experience necessary. Anyone interested should contact Asst. Coach Jeff
Carpenter at [email protected] or come by room E-13 on campus.
HOST FAMILIES FOR AUSTRALIAN STUDENTS WANTED
A group of Australian high school students and teachers will visit RBHS from January 2 - 13. We are looking for
families who would enjoy hosting a student. The program will provide sightseeing activities Monday through
Friday and on one or two days your Australian guest will attend their host student's classes. Evenings and
weekends are free to experience being a part of your family. If you are interested in hosting an Australian
student around the same age, and the same gender as your own child, please contact RBHS teacher Leann
Marshall at [email protected].
PROGRAMS OFFICE
We will have our Adopt-A-Family program again this year. If you are interested in participating, please contact
Pat Rock at 858-485-4818 or [email protected]. We are in need of gift cards, including Walmart, Target,
Gas and grocery stores’. Look for more information in our next Info Sheet and PTSA Staying Connected.
CALIFORNIA HEALTH KIDS SURVEY – OCT. 27
Parents of 9th and 11th Grade Students: Your students will participate in our California Healthy Kids Survey on
October 27 during their English classes. The data collected is used to fund programs to support students. The
survey is anonymous. Please stress the importance of students’ participation. If you have any questions
concerning the survey, please call Pat Rock at 858-485-2818.
STUDENTS WHO RECEIVE FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH
Free and Reduced Lunch applications must be submitted every school year. If you have not submitted an
application for the current school year, please do so; otherwise the student must pay full price ($3.25.) Many
families may be entitled to free/reduced lunch and be unaware. You may apply at www.applyforlunch.com
VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS
We are offering an opportunity to pledge towards the renovated Performing Arts Center with “buying a chair.”
A permanent plaque will be placed on a seat in the new facility with the engraved wording of your choice.

SENIOR COLLEGE APPLICATION SUPPORT - OCT. 15
While underclassmen are taking the PSAT, Counselors will be available from 9:00 am – 10:00 am in the Library
Reference Room to help seniors complete their college application.
PUSD COLLEGE FAIR - OCT. 21
The PUSD College Fair will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 21 from 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm at Del Norte High School.

ACADEMIC PRESENTATION FOR FRESHMEN - OCT. 29 - 30
An academic presentation will be given to all ninth graders on Oct. 29 and 30. Mrs. Curry will visit with all
Biology classes to review the “a-g” requirements of the CSU/UC system as well as RBHS graduation
requirements.
OCIS-PE APPLICATIONS – Available OCT. 6 – NEW REQUIREMENTS
Students requesting OCIS-PE for second semester may download an application from www.rbhs.org
starting on Oct. 6. The new requirements include proof of: (1) negative TB testing and (2) fingerprinting
clearance for the student’s coach/instructor. Completed applications are due to Mrs. Alper in the Counseling
Office by Nov. 7. Neither the District nor RBHS accepts late OCIS-PE applications, so please plan ahead for
second semester.
TAKING COURSES OUTSIDE OF PUSD
According to PUSD Board Policy, all non-PUSD courses (i.e. community college, online courses, courses
through non-PUSD high schools) must have administrative pre-approval before the student may take the
course. The course will not be added to the RBHS transcript without this pre-approval. Pre-approval forms
and information regarding accepted outside courses are available in the Registrar’s office
MONDAY COLLABORATION TIME
The Counseling Office and Bronco Center will follow our new Monday Collaboration Schedule. The Office and
Center will now open at 8:15 am on Mondays.
COLLEGE VISITS
Juniors and seniors, log in to Naviance to sign up for college visits. There are over 50 schools scheduled, but
space is limited so sign up now to attend. Meet with reps from Providence College, Merrimack College, Azusa
Pacific University, Loyola Marymount University, and more. The full list is also posted in the daily bulletin, and
students can visit the Bronco Center for help.
SCHOLARSHIPS
The current list of scholarships is posted in Naviance and updated often, so keep checking throughout the
year. Students may also use the scholarship match service to find opportunities with specific criteria.
ASVAB (Career and Interest Survey)
Students in grades 10-12 may sign up in Naviance for the free ASVAB assessment on November 6. The ASVAB
(Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) assists students in understanding their aptitudes and interests to
match these characteristics to not only military occupations, but also civilian.
JOB OPPORTUNITIES
Ciao Bella Hair Salon is looking to hire a part-time salon coordinator. Juniors and seniors should apply in
person for the position: $9.00/hour Tuesday - Friday 4:00 – 8:00 pm and Saturday 10:00 am-7:00 pm.
Bed, Bath and Beyond in 4S Ranch is looking to hire with flexible schedules for students. Seniors, if you are 18
years old and looking for a job, apply in person and mention you’re from RBHS.
INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
San Diego Golf Resort is looking for interns to do online research, photography, and fieldwork in the San Diego
golf community. Applicants must provide a letter of interest and work sample - writing, photography, or both.

The Carl DeMaio Congressional Campaign is looking for interns in communications, fundraising, policy and
data, and community outreach. This is a great opportunity with flexible hours if you are interested in politics,

RBHS FOUNDATION
RBHS Foundation October Meeting Recap - The Foundation was able to approve $3,000 for iPads/Apple TV’s
for teachers, $2,000 for a classroom set of student tables and chairs, $2,500 for Programs/Student Services,
and $3,000 for campus beautification and clean up. Attend our next meeting on November 12 at 6:00 pm in
the Parent Center, and be part of the decision-making process!

RBHS MUSIC BOOSTERS
The RBHS Music Boosters invite you to the Rancho Bernardo Royal Regiment Field Show Tournament on
Saturday, Oct. 11. The show will start at 6:00 pm. The staff parking lot will be closed on that day for
tournament participants. Parking for anyone attending the show will be available in the student parking lot.

PUSD CARING CONNECTIONS PARENT EDUCATION CLASSES
“Active Parenting of Teens” is a highly successful, research based program which provides parents with the
skills they need to use effective discipline, teach responsibility and communicate with their teens. Each session
shows parents how to handle sensitive issues such as drugs, sexuality and peer pressure. The class will be held
