FRANGELISM

FRANGELISM
Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who
had followed Jesus. The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him,
“We have found the Messiah” (that is, the Christ). And he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked
at him and said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas” (which, when
translated, is Peter). John 1:40-42
Join us in being obedient to the Great Commission by sharing your faith with 5 Friends,
Relatives, Associates & Neighbors each week who are Unsaved, Unsure, or Unchurched.
Invite them to be with you in Worship, Wednesday in the Word, or Church School.
Our prayer is that they will come to know Jesus and commit to following Him daily.

WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY IN THE WORD
“The grass withers, the flower fades; but the Word of our God will stand forever.”
Isaiah 40:8 (NRSV)
A Strong Commitment + A Strong Church = A Strong Community
A Study of The Book of Nehemiah
REVIEW OF LESSON FOUR
“Workers and Warriors”
The Bible tells us to love our neighbors and to love our enemies; “probably
because they are generally the same people.” Those words from Gilbert
Keith Chesterton were certainly true in Nehemiah’s situation. Nehemiah’s
arrival in Jerusalem was a treat to Sanballat and his associates who wanted
to keep the Jews weak and dependent. A strong Jerusalem would endanger
the balance of power in the region, and it would also rob Sanballat and his
friends of influence and wealth.
Questions to Think About and Answer
1. When have you been ridiculed? What did it feel like? How did you respond?
2. Nehemiah and his workers suffered severe ridicule. What tactics did Sanballat and Tobiah
use in ridiculing them?
3. How did Nehemiah handle the ridicule? Why?
4. What are the advantages of pouring our hearts out to God in situations like this?
5. How did the ridicule affect the work on the wall?
6. What kinds of opposition do we as believers / the church face today?
7. What steps scan we take to continue God’s work when we’re ridiculed or discouraged?
CONCLUSION: Nehemiah not only organized the workers and guards, encouraged them to trust
the Lord, but he also set the right example before them. He was a leader who served and a servant who led. He stayed on the job and was alert at all times. He was a godly leader with the faith
to stand.
“Therefore, my beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” I Corinthians 15:58 (NRSV)

JUSTICE MINISTRY NEWS
You may have received a phone call from the St. Paul Justice Ministry Team inviting you to attend an
up-coming "HOUSE MEETING". Please make plans to attend. The "House Meeting" is designed to
bring the people of this congregation, friends and neighbors together to "Listen" and talk about the
"INJUSTICES" that we see everyday in our city, communities and neighborhoods. You will be asked
to share a personal testimony of a time when you encountered an "Injustice" in your life, and how you
handled it? You will be asked to review the "Issues" such as homelessness, education, jobs for the
north side and youth crimes to see if we should continue the efforts to complete these issues before
taking on additional issues.
The Community Problems Assembly will take place on October 28th, at the Abyssinia Baptist Church,
10325 Interstate Center Drive, 7:00pm. All 38 congregations will come together and outline the plans
to continue the works already started for this campaign year of 2014-2015. Many of the persons
running for office will be in attendance. We need you to put this date on your calendars and plan to be
there.
“NEHEMIAH gathered ALL of the people who had encountered the "INJUSTICES" that had taken place in their communities, to come before the Kings and Nobles and say, "Give back to the
people all that you took from them, and it was done. Only because NEHEMIAH stood up for
them.” Nehemiah 5:1-13. Are you willing to be a NEHEMIAH and stand up for those that are less
fortunate than you? Are you making the connection between what we are studying in our Wednesday
in the word, and what is going on today in the city of Jacksonville?
