Back by popular demand…another Peanut
Auction! Mark your calendar now to attend
this fun-filled event on Tuesday, October
21st at 1:30 in the Performming Arts
Center. We will be auctioning all types
of gifts, treasures and “white elephants”
for you to bid on, using your “bidding
peanuts.” Peanuts will be supplied to you
upon your arrival, so just come prepared
to have an entertaining afternoon with our
famous Actioneer Phyllis Schilling.
TALK SHOW HOST DAY
This very special day is celebrated on the
birth date of legendary night time talk
show host Johnny Carson. While this day
is celebrated on Johnny Carson’s birth
date, it is intended to show appreciation
to all Television talk show hosts, daytime
and nighttime. Joins us as we learn about
these entertainers, Thursday, October
23rd, at 1:30 p.m. with Su.
“AMERICA’S SECRET SLANG”
Our American culture is full of odd, slang
phrases which actually had practical origins
in our history and morphed over time to
mean what they do today. Discover how
sayings such as, “lame duck”, “flash in the
pan”, and “on the wagon” came to be part
of our everyday language. Many of the
original meanings are “down-right funny
“and entertaining! Come join us on Tuesday,
October 28th, in our Arts and Crafts Room,
for “America’s Secret Slang: Guns, Booze,
& Politics” with Phyllis Schilling.

The biggest Hollywood stars have been singing and dancing on the silver screen since the
1920’s. From Al Jolson to Ruby Keeler, Shirley Temple to Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire
to Ginger Rogers movie musicals have caused audiences to dance in the aisles. Retired
Impresario Arnold Breman takes his audience on a nostalgic trip through thirty years of
some of the most delightful movie musicals including: “The Jazz Singer,” “Top Hat,”
“The Wizard of Oz,” “Yankee Doodle Dandy,” “Meet Me In St. Louis,” “Showboat,” and
many others. His animated presentation with narration, photos and videos covers some
of the most famous musicals of the 20th century.
