Rainbow Daycare Sacramento, CA Fall into October October, 2014 Director’s Corner: Autumn is here! The leaves are changing colors and the cooler weather is upon us. We are getting into the routine of the new school year and learning so many new things. We have lots of exciting events coming up so keep your eye out for more information on how you can participate. Did you know a fire could happen in just a split second? Are you prepared to put out a fire? Do you practice fire drills at your own home? Fire safety is very important and you should be teaching your child the dangers of fires as well as what to do in case there is a fire at your house. There is little time! In less than 30 seconds a small flame can get completely out of control and turn into a major fire. It only takes minutes for thick black smoke to fill a house. In minutes, a house can be engulfed in flames. If you wake up to a fire, you won't have time to grab valuables because fire spreads too quickly and the smoke is too thick. There is only time to escape. Fire is HOT! Heat is more threatening than flames. A fire's heat alone can kill. Room temperatures in a fire can be 100 degrees at floor level and rise to 600 degrees at eye level. Inhaling this super-hot air will scorch your lungs. This heat can melt clothes to your skin. In five minutes a room can get so hot that everything in it ignites at once: this is called flashover. Friendly Reminders: • • • • • • Extra change of weather appropriate clothes including socks and underwear Each child needs a sheet and blanket for nap time For yellow class, purple class and Pre-K please have your child here by 9:00 so they don’t miss out on curriculum and circle time Share toys are for Friday’s only (please check with your child’s teacher for further information) As the weather gets cooler please send a light jacket or sweater for outside play Please check your child’s art file frequently Our annual Fall Fun Festival will be held on Thursday October 23rd from 6 pm-730 pm. Thank you to all those who participated in helping us decide what activities we should do this year we had a tie on a few of the events so we will be making our final decisions and posting them in the front office. We will need lots of volunteers so be on the lookout for more information on how you can participate and donate items for the festival. Do you shop on Amazon? If so check out the website link below. Teacher Feature: Ms. Aijuan (yellow class teacher) Hello my name is Aijuan Adrianne Chen. I have worked with children for over 11 years now. I worked with a variety of age groups and now I love working with children ages 2-3 years old in the yellow class. I joined Rainbow Daycare in May of 2008. I think children are the most precious people in the world, the family and the community. They can change the world and the future. It’s my passion being a teacher and I enjoy it very much. Teachers help provide a safe and healthy environment for children to grow and learn. When teachers and children work together as a team, we can build a great community for our children. I was born in china and I speak 4 languages. My favorite colors are blue, yellow and red. My favorite food is pizza. I like singing, swimming, yoga and traveling. My husband Ruben and I welcomed our son Jaydon to our family in April 2013 we enjoy spending time together as a family and we love to visit different places and be adventurous!
