Vacations are opportunities to be refreshed and renewed. This Sunday I will be leaving for The Precious Blood Center in Liberty, Missouri. On Monday morning, a staff member will take my classmate, Fr. Dennis, and I to the airport, where we will leave for San Francisico. Those who have been there say that it is a beautiful city, with walking trails and many interesting sites, including Fisherman’s Wharf, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Alcatraz. I will be returning on October 22. Pray that there are no earthquakes! Fr. Tom Spiegel, a retired diocesan priest who lives in Oskaloosa, will be celebrating weekend Masses for me. Just a note of thanks to all those who helped with the liturgy at the 10:30 Mass last Sunday with the Bishop and thanks to those who had a hand in preparing a wonderful meal that followed. You are angels among us! If you haven’t yet returned your donation for the Annual Diocesan Appeal, I would very much appreciate your participation. My prayers are with you each day. Fr. Mike.
