2015 Junior Parade Sunday, February 15, 2015 APPLICATION DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 9, 2015 JUNIOR COURT Princes & Princesses will be 6 & 7 year old children selected from part participants of the Junior parade. They must have participated in the Junior Parade for a minimum of 3 prior years. They must be registered in the Junior Parade with their names, date of birth, parents’ names, address and contact information. The Junior King & Queen will be selected from the Junior Court members. RULES & REGULATIONS 1. Animals: No live animals are allowed unless approved by the parade committee. 2. Favors: Tossing items (including candy) from any part of the entry is prohibited on the parade route during the parade. Favors may be handed out by walkers along the edge of the parade route. 3. Manually pulled floats must be under 12 feet long. 4. Wagon Division: Maximum size is 16 square feet. 5. Performance: NO individual performances in front of the judging/reviewing stand. 6. All competitive entries must be of amateur status. Professionally built entries will be considered non-competitive. 7. Divisions A, B, C, D, E and F will not have any motorized entries. Battery powered entries will be reviewed. 8. The Parade Chairperson reserves the right to limit the number of adult walkers with each of the following divisions: B, C, D, E and F. The view of the television camera, judges and parade audience may be blocked by an excessive number of walkers per unit. 9. A fire extinguisher, emergency tow chains and adequate fuel is required by the City of Fort Myers Fire Department who will inspect your unit and have the authority to disqualify it from the parade. All floats must be connected to the tow unit by a safety chain. 10. Fire Extinguisher: A 2A-10BC fire extinguisher with an up-to-date inspection tag shall be on each float. 11. Inspection: All floats may be inspected by a designated official of the Parade Committee and/or the City of Fort Myers Building and Fire Department at any time. 12. Fuel: No refueling of generator is permitted while generator is running. Any gasoline container shall be in a U.L. (Underwriters Laboratory) approved container. Gasoline containers shall be placed in a safe, ventilated area. 13. Smoking or drinking alcoholic beverages will not be allowed in the staging area or in the line of march. Anyone guilty of the infraction may be removed from the parade lineup. 14. No firearms or other explosive materials are allowed. All decorations must be fire and rain resistant. 15. Exhaust pipes on vehicles should be clear and not come in contact with anything flammable on floats. Exhaust pipes should not be contained, keeping fumes from escaping to the outside atmosphere. 16. No vehicles are allowed in the parade except those approved by the Parade Marshal. 17. Drivers: All vehicles including Golf Carts must be operated by a licensed driver. 18. Release & Indemnification Agreement: Release and indemnification agreement MUST be signed by each participant. Failure to do so will result in removal from parade. JUDGING CRITERIA Judging is done during the parade and entries are judged on: ! ! • First Impression! ! ! • Originality! ! ! • Theme Completion All aspects of the entry carry out it’s main theme or idea, i.e.: costumes, props, signage, music, etc. PARADE MEETING There will be a Junior Parade meeting a few days prior to the parade. The meeting is tentatively scheduled for February 12, 2015, where at least one person from your group must attend.
