Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur Office of Academics Advertisement for Ph.D. admission (Spring Semester, 2014-15) Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics and IT Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur invites applications from Indian citizens for admission in “Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics and IT”. This PhD scheme is an initiative of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY). The scheme has following provisions: 1. Monthly fellowship for full time PhD candidates @ Rs. 22,500 for 1st and 2nd year, and @ Rs. 25,000 for 3rd, 4th, and 5th year. One time incentive of Rs. 2.5 lakhs for part time PhD candidates to be given at the time of the completion of PhD. 2. Annual contingency grant @ Rs 30,000 per year per fulltime PhD student. 3. Reimbursement of rent for fulltime PhD student as per the scheme. Research Area: Only those applicants who are interested in at least one of the areas should apply 1. Selection Process: Candidates can fill in the online form giving a maximum of four choices from the research areas given above. A maximum of ten candidates will be selected in this scheme. There will be a written test and/or interview for the applicants fulfilling the eligibility criteria given below: Eligibility Criteria: Applicant should fulfil one of the following three criteria. 1) M.Tech./M.E./M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology, Information and Communication Technology, Computer Science and Engineering. Minimum 6.5 CGPA/CPI (out of 10) or 60% marks (6.0 CGPA/CPI or 55% marks for SC/ST) 2) B.E/B. Tech./ B.Sc. (Engineering) in Electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Information Technology, Information and Communication Technology, Computer Science and Engineering, or M.Sc. (Electronics) with 7.0 CGPA/CPI or 65% marks (6.5 CGPA/CPI or 60% marks for SC/ST), and one of the following (i) A valid GATE score, or JRF of UGC or CSIR. (ii) Relevant industry experience in a reputed company working in at least one of the theme areas listed above. 3) B. Tech. Degree from an IIT, with a minimum CGPA/CPI of 8.00 (out of 10). 4) Sponsored Candidates: There can be selection of two candidates (out of ten) under sponsored category; provided sponsoring agency agrees to provide matching funding as per ‘the PhD Scheme’ of Deity. Some or all the eligibility criteria given above from 1) to 3) can be relaxed. In case suitable candidates, in this category are not found, all ten selections will be made as per the eligibility criteria mentioned above.
