PROJECT EXPERIENCE / PROJECT SKILLS
Flemming Frost is primarily working as project manager on the studio’s building-, campus- and urban
development tasks. Flemming Frost is responsible for culture- and commercial buildings as the Media Evolution
City in Malmø and the headquarters for Max Bank in Næstved Harbour. In addition, he is responsible for the main
part of the more than 1600 housings, that the studio has realized in the past ten years. The housings cover the
entire spectrum, from the cost-optimized Bedre Billigere Boliger (Better Affordable Housing), the regular housings
of the Firkløverpark to the luxurious housings of Bøgebakken.
Urban development tasks includes the development of Christiansberg, a new town at the Grønttorvs site in Valby,
the Sønderborg Nordhavn designmanual and the Hyllie development strategy. Lately, Flemming Frost has been
responsible for two winning projects in a row in the campus field in Sweden; the development of the Paradise
Quarters at the Lund University and the new entry area for the Örebro University.
Flemming Frost has been president for the Danske Arkitekters Landsforbund’s Competition Committee 01–03,
administrative Professor of Architecture at the Lund University 98–01. He was editor of SKALA architecture
magazine from 86 - 94 and he was a lecturer at the kongelige Kunstakademis Arkitektskole in the same period.
Guest professor at Pratt, NY in 1991. Flemming Frost has been a jury member in several international and
national competitions among others the concert house in DR byen, Krøyers Plads, the Copenhagen University
in Nuuk, the Ordrupgård museum of arts and new town areas in Hamburg, Kalingrad, Perm and Praag. He
has been responsible for the concept development of exhibitions for Kulturby 1996, Århus museum of arts and
Nationalmuseet. Member of the artist community and he has been accepted into The Blue Book of Krak.
Furthermore Flemming Frost is frequently used as a lecturer.
SELECTED WORK EXPERIENCE
Campus development at Örebro University – The university square. Awarded 1st prize / 2010
Project manager for the development of a new entry area at Örebro University. With three new buildings the area
will be the new hub for the university and will connect the existing campus with Örebro Business and Science
Arena and the city.
Client: Akademiska Hus Region Øst. Total area 20.000 m², total building area 14.700 m².
Campus development - The Paradise quarter at Lund University. Awarded 1st prize / 2010 –
Project manager for the revitalization of The Paradise quarter in the heart of the oldest part of the Lund University
– with 40.000 students the largest university in Scandinavia. The area is transformed from traditional university
area to a modern university hub.
Client: Akademiska Hus region Syd. Total area: 45.000 m², total building area 10.000 m².
Media Evolution City – New centre for companies in the media industry, Malmø / 2009 - 2011
Project manager responsible for concept development, programming and projecting of office building in Malmø
Harbour. The MEC building is partly built into existing industrial buildings and partly as new construction, reaching
out into the harbour space.
Client: Wilhborgs. Total building area: 10.000 m²
Designguide for Sønderborg Harbour/Frank Gehry Masterplan / 2010 –
Project manager for the design guide for Sønderborg Harbour. The guide ensures a holistic development that
meet the urban, spacial, social and physical requirements.
Client: Sønderborg Havneselskab A/S. Total area: 50.000 m².
Dwellings in Sønderborg Harbour / 2010 Project manager for the development and realization of the first housing project within the boundries of the
designguide. 9 luxury apartments optimized in relation to spatiality, inflow of light and utilisation of the locations
proximity to water.
Client: Jørgensen + Elholm. Total building area: 2.200 m².
The Quarter Nils - new building block with housings and shops, Malmø. Awarded 1st prize / 2008 Projects manager for development, programming and realization of 111 apartments on a location of great strategic
importance for the city. The building will be 9 stories high with commercial and business facilities at the bottom
and dwellings on the other floors.
Client: JM AB. Total building area: 10.200 m².
Christiansberg – Architectural advisors for the development of a new town at former vegetable market in
Valby / 2007 Project manager on the development of The transformation of the Vegetable market into Christiansberg, a
multifunctional district where the urban spaces are the starting point. Tasks include development of competition,
preparing a masterplan and district planning.
Client: CVM Development. Total area 22 acres, established lay out: 250.000 m²
Bøgebakken - 68 terraced houses and 21 detached houses, Ryget Skovby, Værløse / 2005 - 2007
Project manager on concept development, programming and realization of 68 terraced housings and 21 detached
housings in a scenic area in Ryget Skovby. The housings utilize the slope of the site in order to optimize the their
view and inflow of light.
Client. Sjælsø Gruppen. Total area: 12.000 m².
Bedre Billigere Boliger, Ølby Køge. Winning entry of competition / 2004 - 2007
Project manager for concept development and realization of 251 cost optimized housings in Ølby. The buildings
create eventful urban spaces and the housings are adjustable to the changing needs of the residents.
Client: De forende Ejendomsselskaber. Total area 27.000 m².
Porcelænshaven – Housing facilities at Royal Copenhagen, Frederiksberg / 2006 -2008
Project manager for the transformation of old industrial facilities to new housings, as well as construction of new
dwellings and Town Houses at former site of Royal Copenhagen.. All projects are carried out with respect for the
historical heritage of the location. Client: Sjælsø Gruppen. Total building area: 27.400 m². + 12.000 m² underground parking facility.
Max Bank – New headquarters in Næstved Harbour. Winning entry of competition / 2006 - 2008
Projects manager for concept development, programming and realization of headquarters for Max Bank. The old
workhouse is joined up with new constructions. The programming supports the special corporate culture of the
bank.
Client: Nordicom. Total building area 7.500 m².
Firkløverparken – 225 subsidized dwellings in Vallensbæk Nordmark / 2005 - 2008
Project manager for concept development, programming and realization of 225 common housings in Vallensbæk.
All housings are equipped with balconies and are flexible so they can be continuously adjusted to the specific
housing needs and wishes of the renters. Client: Vallensbæks Bolig selskab v. KAB Bygge- og Boligadministration. Total building area: 20.400 m².
Herstedlund I + II – 111 housings in two stages, Herstedlund, Albertslund / 2006 - 2008
Project manager for concept development, programming and realization of 111 urban housings in a scenic area.
The flexible housings, lit from both sides, are roof terrace/terrasse/terrasse and balcony housings and all of them
have outside areas close by.
Client: FB Gruppen. Total area: 12.300 m²
