Facility Rules:
• Fire/Rescue: 911
• Dogs: Dogs must be on a leash and under control at all times. Owners of Dogs that disrupt a
competitors round will be required to pay the affected horses entry fee in said class. Owners are
solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses
or actions resulting fro their dog’s behaviors.
• Feed and Bedding: Feed will not be available for
sale at the show. Stalls come either dry or with
two bags of shavings, any additional shavings
must be purchased from the facility. NO OUTSIDE BEDDING!
• Motorized Vehicles: Minors who do not have a
valid driver’s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they
reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm
utility vehicles on the grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described vehicles
as long as they are accompanied by an adult with
a valid driver’s license.
• No smoking at the arenas or in the barns.
• Drive carefully and obey all traffic signs.
• No trash or sharps in the manure pits.
• Lunging in schooling rings only.
• No overnight horses may be stabled in trailers or
tied out.
• Horses are absolutely not allowed to be ponied
behind any moving vehicles.
• No vehicles allowed in the barns.
• Any loss, theft, accident or disturbance should be
reported to the Show Management.

IDHSNA 2014 Annual Horse Show Rules/Definitions
RULES AND DEFINITIONS
The 2014 Annual Show Executive Committee reserves the right
to interpret all questions and conditions in regard to, or arising
out of, or incident to, the show, without claims for damages or recourse of any kind. Any question not covered in these rules and
regulations shall be decided by the 2014 Annual Show Executive
Committee, with their decision to be final. This includes the right
to cancel, combine, split and/or add classes or divisions depending on entries.
All horses must have a current Coggins, with the exception of
horses under the age of twelve months are to use their dams Coggins. Horses over the age of twelve months must have their own
current Coggins. All out of state horses must have a valid Health
Certificate dated within 30 days of the start of the show. All horses
being ridden must be at least three years old, all horses being ridden over fences must be at least four years old.
Breed In-Hand classes are to be held in typical IDHS fashion.
Horses will be walked clock-wise around the ring. Each horse in
the ring must have a handler at all times. Handlers are not to block
the Judges view of the horse. Horses are to be turned to their
right. Handlers can use an Irish Show Cane or dressage whip. The
Ring Steward will assist the Judges in announcing to the handlers
what they are to do.
Competitors wishing to provide a demonstration in the Dressage Freestyle Test of Choice must note which test they will be
performing on their Entry Form and riders must present music on
a good quality CD disk at least two hours prior to their scheduled
demonstration time.
Dressage Prospect classes are held in accordance with USDF
Rules, which can be found on the USDF website. In these classes
horses are shown one at a time and on the triangle. Please note
that these classes are for horses between the ages of zero- and
three-years old. Foals must be shown in a halter and may be accompanied by their dam (both animals require a handler at all
times), yearlings may be shown in either a halter or a bridle; twoand three-year olds must be shown in a bridle, with either reins
or a New Market shank. Handlers may request to use an assistant
with a whip if they feel it is needed.
Hunter classes are judged in accordance with USEF rules. In
case of a tie, the horses with the most points over fences, will be
awarded the higher placing. Hunter Pairs classes to be judged on
similarity of horses/riders and quality of performance as a hunter
pair. Jumper classes are judged in accordance with USEF rules.
The Jumper classes, unless otherwise noted, will be run in accordance with USEF rules in Table II, Sec. 2(b), which means that the
jump off occurs immediately following the course without leaving
the ring.
For the purposes of this show, an AMATEUR is one, who does
not train horses under saddle or in harness for profit, or does not
teach riding lessons or accept remuneration for showing horses
in-hand, under saddle or in harness. One who trains horses inhand only as part of a breeding operation is not disqualified as an
amateur. In cases of dispute of amateur status, the 2012 Annual
Show Executive Committee will make the final decision.
ATTIRE: Below are the recommendations for appropriate attire in
each discipline. Note that this is left up to the judgment of the
individual and in all instances the 2012 Annual Show Executive
Committee would recommend a neat and tidy appearance.
Dressage – riders to dress in a black or navy jacket, stock, white
shirt, cream or white breeches with black boots. Handlers in the
Dressage Prospect classes typically wear a polo style shirt with

khaki type pants/slacks and either Jodhpur boots or tennis shoes.
Hunters - riders to dress in a riding jacket, shirt, appropriate choker, tie or stock, breeches, and boots.

In-Hand - handlers and assistants to wear appropriate attire for
showing horses in-hand, allowing freedom of movement and
protective hand, head and footwear is recommended. Suggested dress may include boots and breeches, khaki pants and
button down or polo style shirt. Comfortable shoes for running.
Riding helmet or hat is permissible.
Jumpers – riders are encouraged to dress in a riding jacket, shirt,
appropriate choker or tie, however, collared shirts are acceptable
along with breeches, and boots.
Stallion Parade – participants in the Stallion Parade on Saturday,
November 1, 2014 need to fill out a Stallion Parade Information
Sheet on their stallion(s) and submit them to Ann Morss no later
than Saturday, October 10, 2014 if they wish to participate in the
parades. Forms are to be emailed to [email protected]
Parkmore Pride Memorial Young Handler Championship Hand Competitors will be required to wear formal in hand show attire,
shirt and tie or stock, Beige or dark pants, paddock boots, Jacket
and riding helmet. No polo shirts and ABSOLUTELY NO RUNNING
SHOES ALLOWED. Under saddle : Competitors will be required
to wear formal riding attire, shirt and tie or stock, breeches long
boots, jacket and riding helmet.
TURN OUT: Below are the recommended minimum requirements for appropriate turn out for each discipline.
Dressage – horse to be clean, manes braided. Appropriate bit,
whip and spurs for the level of test being ridden. Horses tack to

Parkmore Pride Memorial Young Handler Championship
Hand - Tack should be clean, well-fitting and in good, safe, condition.
During In-hand showing, competitors should be able to stand
a horse up correctly for the judges and during the trot up should
turn the horse away from them. Under saddle the riders should
be able to recognize being on the correct diagonal in trot and
strike off on the correct lead in canter.

Handlers are required to braid their own horses. Handlers to wear
a helmet if handling a yearling, two year old or three year old.
Youngstock Utility (45) Purebred and Partbred horses ages
yearling to three year old will be judged over a series of obstacles
which could include walking over a tarp, backing through an L,
having an umbrella opened, or opening a gate. To be judged on
relaxed navigation through the course.
The Snowford Bellman Award - Open to all horses and handlers;
not open to professional handlers. The intent of this award is to
recognize a special relationship between the handler and their
horse. This award is to be presented to the combination that may
not be a winning one, but the partnership has demonstrated their
best abilities in showmanship, presence, turnout and training.
To be judged by the Irish Judges over the course of the In-Hand
classes during the show.
Hunter Divisions:
Warm Up Class (class 46) – This class is for horses that are just
beginning their careers; choice of either 18” or 2’ fences.
First Timers Hunter (class 46) – This class is for horses that are
just beginning their careers; they must be able to jump 6 fences at
18”.
Baby Green Hunter (classes 47, 48, & 50) - This division is for
horses that are in their first or second year of showing and must be
able to jump 8 fences at 2’ and walk, trot and canter in a group.
Rusty Stirrup (51, 52, & 53) This division is for riders that are novice riders or are have not ridden for a number of years. There will
be 8 fences at 2’ and a walk, trot, canter in a group.
Novice Hunter (classes 54, 55 & 56) - This division is for horses
that have not won a division championship at 2’6” or higher. They
will jump a regular hunter course at 2’6”.
Junior Hunter (57, 58, & 59) Riders under age 18 will jump a
course of fences at 2’6”.
Fox Hunter Turnout (class 60) Both Horse and Rider will be
judged on turnout. Attire and tack to be appropriate for the hunt
field.
Fox Hunter (61, 62, & 63) - Horses will jump 2’6” - 3’0” and may
be asked to demonstrate hunter field skills (i.e., open/close a gate,
drop a pole, lead over a fence, back 5-steps, etc.) Note that one
fence will be taken at the discretion of the rider to best demonstrate their horse’s suitability as a field hunter.
Warm Up 3’ (64)
Low Hunter (classes 65, 66, & 67) – Horses will jump a hunter
course of fences at 3’.
Working Hunter (68, 69, & 70) – Horses will jump a hunter
course of fences at 3’3”-3’6”.
Purebred/Partbred Irish Hunters Horses (classes 71 and 72) –
Horses to be shown under saddle at a walk, trot, canter, halt, back
5-steps, and hand gallop in both directions of the ring. A riding
judge will mount and ride each horse. The horses may have their
saddles removed, asked to be set up and shown in hand at the
walk and trot for the conformation portion of the class.
Jumper Divisions:
Puddle Jumpers (classes 73 and 74) - These two classes are for
horses that are in their first or second year of showing over fences
and must be able to jump 8 fences at 2’.
Baby Jumpers (classes 75 and 76) - These two classes are for
horses that have not won a division championship at 2’6” or higher. Horses must be able to jump a course at 2’6”.
Level One Jumpers (classes 78 and 79) - Horses will jump a
course of fences at 2’9” – 3’

braiding); 2. Put on a bridle and correctly fit a saddle. 3. Show
a horse in hand and correctly present the horse to the judges,
or show a horse under saddle. and 4. Turn out of Handler.
Prize awarded of trophy to the winner in addition to a 1
week training course at Parkmore Stud with Fleur Bryan.

SHOW PROGRAM: Non-members may advertise in the
National Show Program as long as the IDHSNA Advertising Guidelines are followed.
ADVERTISING: The following guidelines apply to advertising in any IDHSNA publication, website, regional
website, regional newsletter, promotional booth, DVD/
Video or other society funded/organized advertising including articles about the breed in outside publications.
• The IDHSNA reserves the right to refuse any advertisement that may include material it deems inappropriate.
• The IDHSNA assumes no responsibility for the truth,
accuracy or validity of any advertisement or contribution published. Statements, opinions and points
of view expressed by contributors and advertisers
are not necessarily those of the IDHSNA. The IDHSNA reserves the right to deny placing advertising
or contributions that are deemed damaging or are
contrary to the goals of the Society. The IDHSNA assumes no liability for errors in advertisements and
contributions published. Remedy for any such error is limited to the submission of a statement of
correction in the official publication of the IDHSNA.
• The IDHSNA will accept sale advertisements for ID,
RID, IDSH, and RIDSH horses that: 1. are registered
with the IDHSNA in one of their studbooks, or 2.
have at least one parent registered as RID or RIDSH

• The IDHSNA will not accept ANY type of advertisement for any offspring sired by an unapproved stallion unless that offspring is recorded in an IDHSNA
studbook based on the dam’s pedigree.
• The IDHSNA will not accept advertisements for stallions ‘at stud’ that are not yet inspected and approved as RID or RIDSH.
• Any horse being advertised within official society
publications or in society funded advertising, must
be listed under its name recorded with the IDHSNA. (10.27.04)
• Any member submitting a photograph taken by a
professional photographer must have permission
from the photographer to use the photo on the internet or in publications.
• When using photographs, credit should be given
whenever possible. Members can be credited and
professional photographers should have their
credit hyperlinked to their site/e-mail.
• Horses shown in photos used by the IDHSNA for advertising the society or the breed should fall within
these suggested guidelines:
1. be registered with the IDHSNA in one of their
studbooks, or
2. be foals under 1 year of age where at least one
parent is registered as RID or RIDSH in one of
the IDHSNA studbooks, or
3. be registered with the IHB, IDHS, IDHSCAN or
IDHSGB or have provable RID blood.
4. Photos of horses that have failed inspection
and are not approved may not be used.
