WHAT IS A JUMPING DERBY? A jumping derby combines stadium jumps (will fall if hit) and cross country obstacles (solid and immoveable) that might typically be encountered at an event or horse trials. This is a good test of your horse’s willingness to jump a mix of fences over varied terrain. In a traditional derby, there is also a dressage test, but since we offer dressage tests at this show, you can choose to enter a test in the other portion of the show, or just do the derby (stadium and cross country). The winner is closest to optimum time where a refusal or knocking a fence down carries time faul ts. WHO SHOULD ENTER? Anybody who events or wants to event can benefit from the jumping derby! It is an excellent opportunity for people interested in Eventing to “test the waters” without investing in expensive equipment and clothing. Also, anybody who liked to have fun in a low key, casual atmosphere! GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS: Generally run according to USEA rules where applicable.
