Hello St. Stephen's! Oktoberfest is right around the corner!
Remember to get your "yodel" ready! Prizes await for the loudest, the
longest, and the most authentic! Let's get ready to have some fun!
We are always so grateful for any and all assistance with the decorating,
set-up, food and drink contributions, and clean-up duties that help make
the event easier and more fun for all. If you are willing and able to help,
please contact me and we will find the perfect way for you to be
involved.
MISSING...after last year's Oktoberfest, I stored all the decorations
including the beer steins, in the Fellowship Hall closet. I did not get
back in to pick everything up for some time. When I finally did have a
chance, the foot tall beautiful original stein on loan from my motherin-law was not there. I have asked around a bit and have searched
everywhere I know of to find it. I am hoping someone decided to find a
safe place for it and forgot to tell me. I am also very hopeful that
someone from one of our outside groups did not see fit to make it their
own. If anyone knows of it's whereabouts, please call me right away.
Thank you very much, Jackie McCracken

El Dorado County Food Bank:
The food basket in the Narthex is delivered to the food bank weekly.
You may bring non-perishable items when you come to worship or any
time. Soup, cereal, peanut butter and baby food are highly
desirable.
St. John’s Women/Children’s Shelter:
Our congregation will be taking a break from working at the shelter for
a bit. If anyone is interested in taking on this project it would be
appreciated.
Find out how much God has given you and from it take what you
need; the remainder is needed by others. ~ Augustine

Our Values Statement
We Value God’s Relationship to Us
“See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and
that is what we are.” 1 John 3:1
We Value the Activities of Spiritual Life
Worship. Prayer. Stewardship. Education. Generosity. Witness. Mutual Care.
“Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, hold fast to what is good; love one another
with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor.” Romans 12:11
We Value Each Other
“Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of
services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God
who activates all of them in everyone.” 1 Corinthians 12:4-6
We Value the World Around Us
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes
in him may not perish, but may have eternal life.” John 3:16
“…and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and
to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8
We Value Forgiveness
“So when you are offering your gift at the altar, if you remember that your brother or
sister has something against you, leave your gift at the altar and go; first be reconciled
to your brother or sister, and then come and offer your gift.” Matthew 5:23
