Haiti News
We will be having a celebration of Notre Dame Parish’s
10th anniversary of our Mission in Jeremie, Haiti.
This celebration is open to all sponsors and their
family; as well as Notre Dame Parishioners.
This celebration will be on October 24 starting with a
‘Thanksgiving Mass’ at Notre Dame Church at 5:00
pm. We will then go to the auditorium at Notre Dame
School for dinner, followed by a presentation
highlighting our last 10 years in Haiti.
There will be no cost for the dinner. I will need
confirmation (either by email ([email protected]) or
phone Yvonne at (784-5333) on how many in your
family will be attending; so as to get the numbers for
how much food we will need. I need this information
no later than OCTOBER 19th.
We will have Fr. Jean here to celebrate with us. Fr.
Jean is the principal of Saint Jean Bosco Formation
Centre, our school where our sponsored children
attend in Jeremie Haiti. Fr. Chris will also be here to
help celebrate our parish’s involvement in Haiti. Fr.
Chris along with David Lowe and Mark Stanistreet
were the first ones to visit Haiti in October 2004.
Trip to Haiti
We are planning a trip to Haiti the week of January 18,
2015. The plan would be to leave Edmonton on
January 17 and return to Edmonton on January 24.
The approximate cost is around $2,000 which includes
accommodation and flights.
If you are interested in going on this trip, please email
Yvonne at [email protected] or phone 784-5333 so
that your name can be put on the list. We would have
a meeting in early November to firm up the plans and
purchase the airfare tickets.
Next Sunday is World Mission Sunday. Every parish
across the world will celebrate World Mission Sunday
next week. It is a global sign of the Universal Church
and Mission. Your prayers and donations will help
support churches, hospitals, schools and vocations in
countries where the Church is beginning, where it is
new. Please be as generous as possible to the
collection for Propagation of the Faith, for more than
1,120 dioceses in Asia, Africa, Latin America, the
Pacific Islands and some of our Canadian dioceses
depend on the World Mission collection.
