Dear Parents
I have just attended the Matric 2014 Valedictory and what a fabulous occasion! This is my 6th year
at Reddam House so my first group of Grade 7’s matriculate this year and I felt so proud to see the
accolades and prizes awarded to them. We are very privileged as teachers to watch the children in
our care grow and mature.

We still have the wonderful production of “Once upon an Ogre” fresh in our memories and Tony
Mittelmeyer is producing a fantastic DVD of the production at R150 per DVD and BLU-RAY Full HD
disc at R200.

Gymnastics
During the holidays, Megan Phillips, Megan Lambrecht and Juliette Kuttel represented the
Western Cape at the South African National Gymnastics Games. Well done to you all for being
selected and to Megan Lambrecht for being placed 1st first on Floor.
Equestrian
Molly Gregory took part in the Western Province Eventing Championships in George during the
holidays. Well done to Molly and her pony, Tayeebah, on coming 3 rd in their class.

Foundation Phase Inter-house Athletics Day
The Foundation Phase students will be holding their Inter-house Athletics Day on Tuesday, 21
October 2014 at 09h00 on the Hockey field. Parents are invited to share this special event with us.
Students are welcome to go home with parents afterwards.
To ensure the success of this event, we request that every student arrives at school dressed in his
or her blue Reddam sports shorts, house t-shirt, takkies and socks. They must also bring the
following with them:
Sunscreen and hat
An ample supply of water (we suggest overnight freezing)
A packed lunch. Please note that there will be no opportunity to visit the canteen during the
meeting.

Bread Reminder – Westlake Emmanuel Educare School
We would very much appreciate our families assisting us in the following charity drive to assist the
Westlake Emmanuel Educare School on our doorstep. The principal of the school, Ms Eleanor
Lawrence, would be most grateful if every week we assist with the supply of white and brown sliced
bread loaves. Every Tuesday this term each Grade will have a turn to supply bread. The
bread must be taken to the classrooms and will then be delivered by Mrs Elliot-Jones to this
deserving school. Ms Lawrence then freezes the bread to use daily until the fresh bread arrives the
following week. It would be wonderful if you feel you would like to add a container of Peanut Butter,
Marmite, Jam or Anchovette. We thank you in advance for your kind assistance. The roster will be

During Term 4, we are focussing our efforts on the Philani Maternal, Child Health and Nutrition
Project. Please visit their Facebook Page to learn more about this worthwhile project. They were
Santa Shoe Box beneficiaries over the last few years but are not on the list for this year, hence we
thought we would fill the gap.
We will be needing:
265 “Santa Shoebox” style gifts for pre-school age children
120 Pamper hampers for mentor mothers
16 Teacher gift bags
And…
55 Food Hampers for our own Support Staff.

Sports Fixtures
Telephone Extension for Sports Information: Inclement Weather Conditions
Please note that there is a telephone line installed for parents to phone for sports updates
(matches), especially for wet weather arrangements. Please press ‘8’ for this information
which will be updated at 12h00 each day during inclement weather conditions.
Please remember that Sport practices are not cancelled due to inclement weather. The
Sport coaches will use the time to discuss skills or strategies or show appropriate videos. On
Match days; when matches are cancelled or postponed children may go home after school if
a lift is available. If no lift is available, the coaches will use this time accordingly.
Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate all the requests which we receive from the children to
call home when it does rain, so please fetch your child at 15h30 from the classroom of the
teacher in charge of each sport.
