Global Business Luncheon
Presented by The World Affairs Council and The River Club
The River Club will host another Trivia Night for
Adults on Thursday, October 16 from 6:30-8 p.m. It’s
here that members, arranged in teams, will compete for
fame, prizes and club bragging rights! Each member
of the winning team will receive a prize. VUE 34 food
and beverage specials will also be available during the
evening as will half price on bottles of wines under $75.

VUE 34’s bistro menu continues to delight members with its flavor and fashion. Some of the faves include Tenderloin Medallions atop Buttered Crostini with Horseradish Sauce and Maytag Bleu Cheese

at a Thanksgiving Menu Pairing Wine Tasting scheduled for Tuesday, October 28 from 6:30-8 p.m.
It’s here that a wine expert will educate all on how to select and pair wines to complement your home
dining menu. Some of the wines to be sampled include:

South African Wine Dinner
On Friday evening, October 10, The River Club will host another member Wine Dinner, this time
showcasing the finest vineyards in South Africa. Expect a delightful four-course menu with each course
thoughtfully paired with an appropriate South African wine. All in attendance will enjoy a presentation
on food preparation techniques and an in-depth analysis of each wine’s unique vintage. The 7:30 p.m.
reception is followed by an 8 pm dinner. Enjoy the following:

Annie The Musical

the musical “Annie” at The Times-Union Center. For $120

38th Annual GATE River Run
Planning is already underway for the 2015 GATE River Run scheduled for Saturday, March 14. Start recruiting your fellow Club members to join the fun and run with you. This year, we’re introducing a “Name
our Team!” contest. Each GATE Club will select their own Team name for everyone running the GATE
River Run. Submit your most creative Team name to Sarah Small at [email protected], prior to
December 1. The winner will receive dinner for two at the Club.

Wine Down Wednesday
Here’s an attractive offer to all wine connoisseurs and those who wish
to be. Every Wednesday during the month, we’re featuring all bottles of

Thirsty Thursday
Members visiting the Club on Thursdays will enjoy house well drinks,
house wines and imported beer at only $3 each. Domestic beer is priced
at $2.50 each.

“Bring Four & We’ll Pour” With the purchase of four dinner entrees, the
table will enjoy a complimentary bottle of the following white wine (Simi

This month’s featured reciprocal club is the
Club de Vina (www.clubvina.cl) located in the
city of Vina del Mer along Chile’s Pacific coast.
Founded in 1901 as a gathering place for businessmen, today it serves a broad membership
with a variety of social, recreational and cultural pursuits. Amenities include a dining room,
bar, library, art gallery and gardens with such
activities as bowling, paddle tennis, bridge and

scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 27. Expect a bountiful feast
to include Turkey, Pork Loin, Roasted Sirloin, Lemon Sole and a wide variety of accompaniments. The buffet is attractively priced at $44.95 for adults, $11.25 for children (6-12

Tree Lighting Ceremony
Join us on Friday, November 28 from 6-9 p.m. to celebrate the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Jacksonville Landing. Featured in the Dining Room this evening will be Chef
Darek’s fabulous Seafood Buffet. Additionally, there will be crafts for the children while a
holiday-themed cocktail will debut for the adults. The 7 p.m. lighting will be followed by a

Light Parade Buffet
The annual Light Parade, one of Jacksonville’s premier events, is scheduled for Saturday, November 29. Perched 34 floors above, River Club members will enjoy a spectacular view of the
passing flotilla of boats, each lighted for the season and the fireworks display that follows.
Chef Darek’s buffet menu, served from 6-9 p.m., is equal to the excitement on the river. The

Hats, Horns and Much, Much More
