For your safety, any equipment used in gas welding must be adequately
maintained as stated in AS4839 Recommended Practice for the Use of
Portable Oxy-Fuel Cutting and Welding.
•A
safe work procedure should be developed and implemented addressing the
Code of Practice requirements.
• F it flash back arrestors to both ends of the oxygen and fuel gas lines.
• F lash back arrestors should be inspected weekly, tested every year, and replaced
every five years.
•R
egulators should be inspected weekly, tested every six months, and replaced
every five years whether or not they have been in regular use.
• F lexible hoses should be inspected weekly and leak tested and replaced
immediately if damaged.
•B
low pipes, mixers and attachments should be inspected and leak tested weekly.
• E very six months the control valve has to be leak tested, and replaced every
five years.
