Rancho Santa Fe Summer 2014 www.summa-education.com JUNE 16TH TO AUGUST 9TH S U M M E R 2 0 1 4 Summer Boot Camp 2300 Program This class is our most intensive and most popular SAT program. It meets Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 1:00pm and focuses equal attention on the Math, Critical Reading, and Writing portions of the SAT. Students in Summer Boot Camp engage in daily practice and daily interactive lectures; for serious students hoping to make significant advances on the SAT, this is often the best type of class. No one offers a more intensive--or effective--way of preparing for the SAT. These classes are a good fit for students who are starting out with a minimum 1900 SAT (190 on a PSAT) or higher. Students meet three times per week in the afternoon, rather than every day, but are expected to put in considerable effort in class and at home. Typically, most students in these classes are strong in math, so there is an extra emphasis on higher-level Critical Reading skills. Tuition for these classes includes fall extension classes and fall “office hours,” special small-group and exclusive one-on-one tutoring. Boot Camp A - C TESTING Mondays 8:30am to 12:15pm CLASS Tu, Wed, Th, Fri 8:30am to 1:00pm 2300 Plus Tuition: SAT Boot Camp: $2550 for 8 weeks TESTING Mondays 2:30pm to 6:15pm CLASS Wed/Fri 2:30pm to 6:30pm Note: Fall extension classes are offered to bridge summer classes with the October SAT. 9/10 PSAT Writing/Literature Intensive Camps For most students, the greatest challenges on the SAT include the verbal elements--critical reading skills, vocabulary, and grammar. Thus, the best way for younger students to prepare for the SAT is often to read and work on grammar and vocabulary. Rather than subjecting incoming 9th and 10th graders to endless SAT practice exams, these challenging classes work with real SAT and PSAT materials, focusing exclusively on the verbal elements. We will also read many books--a minimum of six books over the eight weeks of summer, engaging in critical critical discussions of theme, voice, vocabulary, and cultural issues. Students will write every week, and get valuable feedback from talented teachers. These classes are designed to simultaneously raise PSAT scores and build deep reading, writing, and thinking skills. 9/10 W/L Plus Tues--Fri 2:30pm to 4:30pm 9/10 W/L Tues--Fri 4:30pm to 6:30pm Tuition: $1250 for 8 weeks !
