St. John the Evangelist Library Understanding Your Library Accounts Christendom College Libraries use various platforms to provide online services to you. While we are working to integrate all of these platforms under one set of credentials for each patron, we are not quite there yet. This guide will help you understand the various accounts, how to set them up and what each does for you. Library Website christendom.edu/library specific to Christendom College. You choose your own User Name and Password for this account. This is the main presence of Christendom Libraries on the web. While many of the resources here are also available via WorldCat, there are still several resources that must be accessed through the Library Website, such as professors’ Class Pages, Senior Thesis Listings/Uploading, Course Syllabi and training videos. The My Christendom Account is specific to Christendom College and allows you to view the books you have out, renew them, check fines and place holds (with additional features coming). It is also used for off-campus access our online databases, such as JSTOR, EBSCOhost, Project Muse, Gale and others. Your User Name for this site is your email address. For undergraduate students, faculty and staff, it will be your Christendom email, for all others it will be the email you provided at registration. To set up your My Christendom Account: To set up this account you will need your College ID number, found on your College ID Card. • • • • Go to the website and click the Sign-Up link in the upper-left corner. Enter your College ID number Select either Christendom or NDGS as your main library Press Submit The system will set up your account or recover your information for an existing account and send you an email with further instructions. A message will display informing you of the next steps you need to take. WorldCat Library Catalog christendom.worldcat.org WorldCat is our Library Catalog, allowing you to search our libraries as well as other libraries around the country and throughout the world. WorldCat also searches most of our online databases at the same time, as well as other free resources, such as Hathi Trust, Open Library, web pages, and more. There are two accounts available for WorldCat: WorldCat Account and My Christendom Account. The WorldCat Account is generalized, and works across all WorldCat catalogs or the standard worldcat.org. It is used to maintain personalized lists of materials, which can be private or public, save searches from one session to another and more. It is used for any function that is not G:\Forms\Circulation\Understanding Your Library Accounts.docx • Click the My Christendom Account Sign In link in the upper-right corner of the WorldCat page Click the Set/Reset Password link in the login box Enter your College ID number Click Request New Password • • • The system will send an email to your address on file with a link to set/change your password. ILLiad Interlibrary Loan christendom.edu/illiad ILLiad is our Interlibrary Loan system for borrowing books, articles and other items from libraries throughout the world. When you order a book it will generally arrive within several days to a few weeks, depending on the lending library. Articles generally arrive as PDF files. To set up you ILLiad account: • • • • • Click the Register Here link below the login box Read the information about ILLiad accounts Click First Time Users Click Here Fill out the Registration Form as completely as possible (some fields are required) Press Submit Information Once your information is submitted, you may begin ordering. We will review your application and when approved we will order the items you have requested. Note: In Fall 2014 we will be integrating ILLiad login with WorldCat. When we do this you will be asked to set up a new account using your WorldCat credentials. Once you create the new account, we will merge it with your existing account. All requests, active and archived, will be transferred.
