Stop Those Calls
The National Do Not Call Registry, run by the federal government, allows you to restrict telemarketing
calls permanently by registering your phone number(s). You can register at https://
www.donotcall.gov or by calling 1-888-382-1222. Most telemarketers should not call your number
once it has been on the registry for 31 days. Both your home and mobile phone numbers can be
registered for free. If you still receive calls, you can file a complaint at https://www.donotcall.gov.
A Special Savings Account Can Make Your Dream Vacation Come True
It's time to stop dreaming about the family trip to Disneyworld, that two-week stay at the beach, or the
European tour, and start planning it. Open a special savings account at the credit union to help make
your dream vacation come true. Money experts note that savers who set aside funds for a specific
purpose are much more likely to reach their goals. And even small amounts will add up over time. Get
the whole family involved by having the kids decorate a jar with pictures of your destination; then
collect everyone's spare change. When the jar is full, roll the change (also write your name, account
number or address on each roll) and bring it to the credit union for deposit. When you set up payroll
deduction or an automatic transfer to your special savings account, saving becomes painless. The key
is to start saving now, so you can play later! Call on the credit union today.
Feel Secure & Stress-free With Night Depository
We've all been there...you have an important deposit to make into your credit union account, and with a neverending 'to-do' list, you just never get there during the course of your busy day. Well, with the credit union's convenient and secure night depository, you don't have to stress about getting to the credit union before closing. Simply
bring your after-hours deposits to the credit union (Goldsboro location) and place them into the night deposit
receptacle, free of charge.
Deposits will be processed the next business day and credited to your account. Until then, monies are secured in a
fire-resistant vault making this service a great option for businesses, as well as individuals, who require a secure drop
off during or after business hours.
Important Debit Card Information!!
Has your debit card been compromised or are there debit card charges on your account you didn't make
or authorize? Below is the phone number you will need to call to take care of these matters. If you
have lost or damaged your card you will still need to call the credit union so we can issue you a new
card.

Simplify Your Life With Online Bill Pay
Are We There Yet? Easy Travel With Kids
Are you tired of wasting time, money, and energy
addressing envelopes, buying stamps, and sending out a pile
of bills every month? Do you want to simplify the
bill-paying process? Then it's time to check out your credit
union's Online Bill Pay. With this easy and convenient
service, you can quickly pay any business or individual on a
monthly basis, directly from your CU accounts. You have
the flexibility of making one-time payments or scheduling
payments in advance so you don't have to worry about
making manual adjustments each month for ongoing bills.
Whether you're traveling by land or air this summer, if
you're on the move with kids you'd be wise to be stocked
with plenty of simple activities and supplies that will
help pass the time (and maintain the sanity of all) while
en route to your final destination.
Read on for some creative tips and tricks on how to keep
family travel fun and memorable this summer:
* Travel binder - Organize a 3 ring binder with all things
trip-related - pictures, maps, and trivia along with a list of car games and
knock-knock jokes for giggles.
* Backpack - Stock your little one's bag with coloring supplies, their blankie,
a few books, and a favorite toy or two. For older kids, pack a travel journal
and camera to capture memories and some summer reading selections to pass
the time.
* Sing along - Don't forget a kid-friendly repertoire of tunes, either in CD
form or downloaded to your iPod. Make sure your tweens and teens are well
equipped with ear buds and iTunes gift cards.
* Avoid sweets - Opt for some tasty high protein and fiber filled snacks like
cheese and crackers, yogurt, veggie sticks, and fresh fruit to keep little (and
big) bellies full and happy.
* Embrace technology - When parents and kiddos are in need of some quiet
time, be sure to have a fully charged tablet to play educational games or surf
the net along with some favorite DVDs for movie time.
Online Bill Pay also allows you to:
* Track your payments
* View payment history in a centralized location
* Pay many creditors and multiple bills in one easy step
In addition to saving time and money, with Online Bill
Pay you will:
* Pay bills safely and securely
* Avoid late payments and the associated charges
* Manage debt more efficiently
Paying bills is one of life's necessary evils so why not
make it as painless as possible with our Online Bill Pay.
Sign up today at your credit union and simplify your life.
There is no charge for Bill Pay but if you sign up and
you DO NOT use it at least once a month there is a $2
monthly fee.
Give Yourself Credit With A Share Secured Loan
If you're caught short this month, there's no reason to dip into the money you're saving for a down
payment on a new car, your vacation fund, or the kids' education savings. With a Share Secured Loan
from the credit union, you can use your share savings as collateral. By borrowing against your savings,
you'll pay a lower interest rate than you would on an unsecured loan or with a cash advance. You get
access to cash fast, without depleting your savings. Taking out a Shared Secured Loan and making
regular payments is also a way to enhance your credit history, and ultimately, raise your credit score.
Once you pay the loan back, you still have your savings! For more information on how to give yourself some credit, call,
click or stop by the credit union.
On The Move? Keep Us Posted
Don't Let It Happen To You!
Whether you're headed to your second home for the
season, downsizing or seeking space for your growing
family, if you're on the move, please keep the credit
union posted. We want to make sure important tax
and other account information finds its way to you, so
please advise us of a current mailing address.
There's no need to close your account whether you are
moving cross-town or cross-country. You can take the
credit union with you. Your credit union debit and
credit cards are accepted virtually everywhere and
with e-branchings online services the credit union is
always just a few clicks away. So don't leave us behind. We're your financial partner for life, and we
want to stick with you. Just let us know how we can
stay in touch.
The fastest growing crime in America is identity theft, and the best protection is
prevention. Here are some tips to safeguard your good name:
1. Protect your Social Security number. Do not carry your card in your wallet.
2. Do not give out your personal information unless you made the contact.
Scam artists "phish" for victims by pretending to be credit unions, banks, stores,
government agencies, etc. They do it by phone, email, and snail mail.
3. Shred papers with personal information. Always shred credit card offers that
you don't use. Also, shred those "convenience checks" you don't use.
4. Open your credit card bills and bank statements right away. Check for
unauthorized charges or withdrawals and report them immediately.
5. Protect your computer from viruses and malware. Use firewall, virus, and
spyware protection software - make sure it is updated regularly. Always use
"strong" passwords.
6. Always click with caution online. Only enter personal information on secure
Web pages with "https" in the address bar and a padlock symbol at the top or
bottom of your browser window.
Secure Your Valuables In A Safe Deposit Box
It's midnight and your smoke alarm wakes you from a sound sleep. Would you know where all of your
valuable items are? With a safe deposit box at the credit union, you can protect documents that would be
difficult to replace, such as your passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate, and the like. Just remember
you only have access to these items during regular business hours, so anything you might need at a
moment's notice should be kept in a safe place elsewhere. Your safe deposit box is also the best place to store
a video or photos of your home's contents. Doing so will expedite any insurance claims you may need to make. Your safe deposit box is
also a wise place to store the diamond and pearl necklace you inherited from Grandma. Stop by the credit union to choose the safe
deposit box size that works for you.
Get In Gear With A Credit Union Car Loan
Payroll Deduction: Easy + Smart
If you need new wheels, you're not
alone. Because of the ups and downs in
the economy, many consumers have held
onto their vehicles longer than in the
past. While it makes financial sense to
not trade cars too frequently, there is a
point at which repair costs reach the
tipping point, and you need to be back in the market for a
vehicle. If so, here's a quick refresher on car buying:
* Like a good Boy Scout, be prepared. Do your homework
to narrow your choices. There are numerous online sources
and other resources such as the April issue of Consumer
Reports.
* Get a pre-approved loan from the credit union. With a
loan in hand, you have more shopping flexibility. Just don't
let on to the dealer that you have been pre-approved.
Financing is a profit center for dealers and they will try to
make up any lost profit on something else. And how about
those no-or-super-low interest dealer rates? Be aware that
there are many restrictions, including being limited to the
purchase of certain models.
* Save the excitement until you are driving away.
Buy with your head, not your heart.
Some things in life are easy, but not so smart, like picking up
fast food for dinner rather than preparing a healthy meal at
home or spending the weekend on the couch instead of
tackling the "to-do" list. But signing up for payroll deduction at
the credit union is both easy and smart. When you sign up for
payroll deduction, you can add to your savings painlessly. It's
true that what you don't see, you won't miss. Your savings will
steadily accumulate and before you know it, you'll have funds
for both rainy days and sunny ones. You also can use payroll
deduction to make your loan payments, which means you
won't have to worry about late payments. It's easy to get started
and smart to boot; just call the credit union to find out how.
The Importance Of H2O: Drink Up!
Water is one of nature's most important gifts to humankind. Essential to life, a
person's survival depends on drinking water. Drinking six to eight glasses a day can
be important for many reasons:
* Water is part of your body's cooling system.
* Water is "pure," in that it has no calories, sugar, stimulants, depressants, or
chemical additives. It's an ideal diet aid, filling your stomach without adverse effects.
* Water protects your skin. It can help ward off wrinkles by promoting skin
elasticity.
* Water protects your joints. It increases synovial fluid - something your body
produces to lubricate joints.
* Water helps digestion. It is a natural laxative and can help prevent kidney stones.
Every day you lose about three quarts of water - even if you aren't particularly active.
Without enough water, you may become dizzy, get a headache, lose energy, or become irritable.
So, drink a tall glass of water - to your health!
Payday Loans: Fast, Easy And Costly
The ads promise quick, easy cash to keep you whole until the end of the month and payday. The
storefront is easy to get to. The people are friendly and seem to be genuinely concerned about
helping you out of a tight spot. But know this: The neighborhood payday lender is a costly place
to get a loan. You could end up owing $1,000 or more on a $500 loan as interest and loan
renewals are added on. Come to the credit union instead. We'll help you figure out how to get
back on track, without digging yourself into a deeper hole. For example, it's possible a
consolidation loan can pay off your high-interest credit cards and allow you to start tucking
away funds in savings for those times in the future you need money to tide you over. So don't be
conned by the offers of a quick solution to your money problems. Don't delay. Stop by the credit
union today.
Let Your Home Work For You
Do you need some extra money to make home improvements? Or, maybe
some extra money to help finance your child's education, buy a new car, or
consolidate debt? A home equity loan from your credit union could be your
answer.
A home equity loan lets you borrow against the equity in your home, and the
interest you pay may be tax deductible. (Consult a tax advisor regarding the
deductibility of interest.) With our low interest rates, a home equity loan is a
good option: a fixed interest rate and monthly payments. Call or visit your
credit union for move information. Remember, the equity in your home is a
powerful financial tool.
