New 4-H Program Assistant, Mason Forsythe Hello, I am Mason Forsythe and I am very excited to be in Scott County as a 4-H Program Assistant. I am originally from the Paducah area, but have been living in central Kentucky for the past three years working with 4-H in Fayette County. I have studied at both Western Kentucky University and Murray State University. I am a life-long learner that loves to pass on the knowledge I have gained to young people. I have been involved in 4-H for almost my entire life. I have gone to camp for 22 years and 90 weeks of my life. I was a member of the state teen council and even served as the Kentucky 4-H State Treasurer in 2004. I am very passionate about this program and all that it can do for youth. Scott County Extension Agent for 4-H Youth Development Patrick Allen Scott County Extension Agent for 4-H Youth Development 4 WHAT IS A RECORD BOOK? A 4-H project book is a workbook that covers a specific topic. Record Books The project book will teach you facts about the subject and it will include fun activities to do and reinforce your newly learned knowledge. It also encourages you to develop record keeping skills. For example, the forestry project book has information about different types of leaves and the activities include making a leaf collection and a leaf print collection. After you have completed a project book, you can enter it to be scored at the County Record Book Judging (you’ll just need the project book, a story about your project and some pictures). You will receive recognition for your hard work. The program year for 2014 submission, will be for the reporting of the work taken place from September 1, 2013-August 31, Achievement Forms Motivation and the use of incentives are important to positive youth development. 4-H Youth Development programs provide opportunities for creativity in a learn-by-doing environment and encourage youth to become involved in projects and activities. The 4-H Achievement Program is intended to recognize 4-H participants who have outstanding accomplishments and to provide incentive for youth to increase their knowledge, skills and abilities. Every effort is made to make this 4-H program inclusive to all eligible youth. DATE SCHOOL & GRADE LESSON ?
