PREFACE
The spectacular year of 2014 has begun. Reform topics are discussed in greater depth, reform initiatives are launched
continuously, and China is still one of the engines for the world’s development and prosperity.
With the state’s progress, the School of Management, Fudan University made satisfactory achievements through last
year’s efforts.
After years of meticulous cultivation, the School kept winning glories on the international stage: in the 2013 global EMBA rankings released by Financial Times, four programs of the School continued to rank high on the top-100 list. This is
unprecedented in the world, showing the School’s overall strength and international standards of talent fostering, academic research, faculty building, etc.
After years of steady progress, the School kept making breakthroughs in its development: on October 12, 2013, the
first International Advisory Board of the School was formally established. The committee pooling well-known figures in
domestic and foreign political, commercial and academic circles will help the School draw upon all useful opinions, gather resources, further strengthen international exchange and cooperation and promote improvement of the School’s
training for management talents and even China’s training for management talents. On the same day, the foundation
stone laying ceremony for the Zhengli Campus-the School’s new campus-was held. The Zhengli Campus with a total
building area of more than 100,000 square meters will be completed and put into use in 2016. Then the School will have
first-class environment and facilities for teaching and scientific research in the world.
For a business school, scientific research with practical significance and effective all-round fostering of talents are its
foundation. Following Fudan University’s spirit of extensive learning and single-hearted devotion, the School achieved
great results of academic research with its steady and progressive work style: in 2013, the School carried out a total of
68 ongoing national research projects, and the School’s teachers published a total of 16 monographs and textbooks and
251 scientific research papers. Apart from the above great achievements in scientific research, the School’s reform of
undergraduate and graduate education continued to deepen, and the work on tutorship was fully carried out. Meanwhile, we consolidated partnerships with various international cooperative schools, further developed cooperative relationships with many leading enterprises in different industries, expanded the School’s influence in the Greater China region through extensive alumni activities and other public welfare activities, and shouldered the due social responsibilities of a business school.
The School of Management, Fudan University is now on an unprecedented historical journey: China’s cooperation with
excellent business schools around the world and continuous growth of China’s economy lead to huge demand for management research and business education. The great times give us great tasks and light our road ahead like a beacon.
For our common future, we have reason to join our hands and write the next page of history with pride and glory!

Four Programs of the School Listed among
Global Top-100 in FT Ranking
On October 21, 2013, Financial Times released the global EMBA ranking 2013, and four programs of
the School of Management, Fudan University were successfully ranked in the top-100 list, thus becoming only a business school that has most programs on the list in the world.
This is the second year that the School has joined the FT’s annual EMBA ranking with multiple programs, and has achieved improvement in general. Among them, the BI Norwegian Business School-Fudan University Program participated in the ranking for the first time and the Fudan EMBA Program was
still ranked the best Chinese-language program in the world.
The four programs that were ranked on the top-100 list this year are: Washington University-Fudan
University EMBA Program, Fudan EMBA Program, The University of Hong Kong-Fudan University IMBA Program, and BI Norwegian Business School-Fudan University MBA Program. The first three programs were in the ranking last year. This year, Washington -Fudan EMBA Program was ranked the 6th
in the world, keeping its record of top-20 globally and No.1 in mainland China in terms of average rank-

ing for 8 consecutive years since 2006. Fudan EMBA Program (Chinese language) was ranked No.38,
being the world’s best Chinese-language EMBA program for the 2nd year. The HKU-Fudan IMBA Program was ranked No.51, and was the world’s 6th best part-time MBA program. BI -Fudan MBA Program was ranked No.54, and was the world’s 7th best part-time MBA program.
The FT global EMBA ranking is an important guideline to evaluate the quality of a higher education institution. The ranking criteria strictly cover aspects such as the quality and career development of students, the academic achievements and research capability of the school, the internationalization level of
the School, etc. The business schools participating in the ranking every year must have good infrastructure and competitiveness. The fact that four of the School’s programs are ranked among the world’s
top-100 shows the management education level of the School has continued to be recognized by international ranking authorities. It also shows to the world that management education in China is continuing to make improvement, and reach the internationel advanced level.

163%; four papers were published in UTD journals, and seven other papers were officially accepted by
UTD journals; ten papers were published in FT journals, and seven other papers were officially accepted
by FT journals. In terms of international database indexes, nearly 70% of the international papers published were indexed by SCI/SSCI. The number of papers published in Chinese journals decreased over

but also insisted on teaching young MBA students. In the past year, he offered the brand new optional course of“Financial
Strategic Management”to MBA students. It became one of the most welcomed courses among the numerous optional MBA
courses, and ranked among the best MBA courses in teaching evaluation.
In 2013, Associate Professor Yu Wen made excellent achievements in teaching, scientific research and public services, and
stood out among young teachers. This is the second time that he has won the Young Teacher New Star Prize.
In the past year, Dr. Yu Wen shouldered the work of teaching two MITMBA courses and one master-doctoral course. His conscientious and responsible teaching attitude was commended by students. The primary characteristic is that the two MITMBA
courses are evaluated as good. His master-doctoral course is commended by all students. Like in the previous years, his result is excellent this year and ranks 2nd in the program. The reason why he could achieve such result as a new young teacher
is closely associated with his dedication to work and efforts.
In terms of scientific research, in the past year, Dr. Yu Wen published a total of three SCI dissertations, and two dissertations
were accepted. Among them, one was published in a second-tier international periodical, and three were published in
third-tier international periodicals. It is not easy for a young teacher having only a few years of work experience to achieve the
above result, which shows his very strong scientific research ability and potential.
