Business School offers Executive MBA
The Harold Pupkewitz Graduate School of
Business (HP-GSB) is set to expand its repertoire
of executive education in the 2015 academic
year, following the launch of the highly anticipated Executive Master in Business Administration
(EMBA) last week.
The advanced degree in Business Administration and
Management is aimed at those with senior managerial
experience. At the start of the 2014 academic year the
HP-GSB introduced its Master of Business Education
(MBA) programme that replaces the Master of International Business (MIB) qualification.
Speaking at the launch of the EMBA, Poly Rector, Prof
Tjama Tjivikua, said that those who wish to improve
themselves and the organisations they work for need to
be out-of-the-box thinkers. “You will need skills that
others don’t have, and you will find this in our EMBA
which will round you off with the technical and cognitive
skills to take your company and yourself forward,” he
said.
HP-GSB Director, Prof Grafton Whyte, said the Poly
was prompted to develop the new qualification after
the Graduate School had carried out a survey in 2008
which indicated a need for higher-level programmes in
Business Administration. “A rise in demand for places at
the HP-GSB and the Namibia Business School, as well as
the proliferation of new business schools, all indicated a
need for executive education in business administration,” White said.

The two-year programme is aimed at employed
individuals with management or entrepreneurial
experience. Through a range of outcomes that include
the application of advanced leadership and management skills, as well as critical and holistic thinking and
reasoning, the EMBA will aim to build management
capacity in Namibia.
The first intake of the new programme will be admitted
in 2015.
