28th ANNUAL LOMBARDI GALA October 18, 2014 TO BENEFIT: GEORGETOWN LOMBARDI COMPREHENSIVE CANCER CENTER WHAT The 28th Annual Lombardi Gala is an unparalleled celebration to benefit the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, Louis M. Weiner, MD, Director. This black-tie dinner dance features a cocktail reception, renowned silent auction, a 2015 model Lexus raffle and an awards presentation to recognize remarkable individuals for their contribution to the fight against cancer. All of the proceeds go directly to Georgetown Lombardi for cancer research, education and treatment. WHY One of just 41 National Cancer Center Institute designated comprehensive cancer centers in the nation, Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center is the only one in the Washington, DC region. Named in memory of All Star Coach Vincent T. Lombardi, who was treated for cancer at Georgetown University Hospital, Georgetown Lombardi’s world- renowned research faculty are discovering cancer risk factors, designing effective prevention strategies and learning how to detect cancers earlier. These individuals are developing and testing the cancer treatments of tomorrow – targeted therapies that will improve both survival and quality of life – and making progress toward the ultimate goal of eradicating cancer worldwide.
