What are the DELF and DALF? The DELF (Diplôme d'Études en Langue Française) and the DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Francaise) are official French diplomas to certify of the competency of candidates from outside France in the French language. These foreign language certifications have been approved by French law (décret of the French Republic 22th of May 1985 for the DELF and December 1988 for the DALF) and awarded by the French Ministry of Education. The DELF B2 is an advanced level of French which allows you to enrol in a French University without having to take another language test. The diplomas; the DELF & DALF are in line with the levels of reference of the CECR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) as well as with the recommendations for language assessing by the Framework. A junior version of the DELF exists for junior and high school students and is recommended for 12-17 year old. The DELF PRIM version is designed for children between 7 and 11 years of age and offers 3 levels: A1.1, A1 and A2 For each type of diploma, the 4 core language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing are assessed. For detailed information about each level of these diplomas, visit the website of CIEP (Centre International d'Études Pédagogiques).
