The
POTENTATE’S
Message
Ben Collins
Illustrious Potentate
Greetings Nobles and Ladies,
Once more Deb, the boys and I want to express our thanks for the wonderful Potentate's Ball. Our thanks to all who participated, especially the Ball Committee. We could not have asked for anything more perfect.
September flew by so quickly. The Buccaneers had a wonderful fish fry with delicious food and great fellowship.
We were asked by the Beach TDC to help with one of the things we do especially well. . ."sell beer", at their Chasing the
Sun Music Fest. Our participation was ramroded by Illustrious Sir Joe McAdam and Lady Mae. For all three days, we had
at least ten Nobles and Ladies helping sell beer, wine, margaritas and hand out arm bands. What an unexpected windfall
with no expense, just our time.
Lady Paula Clark organized and hosted a very successful Healthcare Expo. Numerous vendors offered various screenings
and information on care and treatments offered in our area. Many community members came by to receive information
and it was especially refreshing to see the number of Shriners, their Ladies, and Daughters of The Nile who participated.
Special thanks to the Franklin County Shrine Club for the great fish dinner we had during our official visit. Special thanks
to Richard and Sherri Rowe and for their $500.00 contribution to the Hospital fund.
Illustrious Phil d'Albertis organized another successful Spaghetti Lunch. Thanks to all who helped.
Finally, our first annual Great Cardboard Boat registration was great fun for participants and spectators. It had its fits and
starts during the run up, but the committee overcame the obstacles and established a firm foundation for our future support
for this fun filled fund raiser.
October will be filled with great opportunities, Thunder Beach, Fall Ceremonial, and the Cole Brothers Circus. Please
come out and help us make the events more successful than we have in past years. Let's show that we stand behind the
community and our Shrine Center.
Fraternally,
Ben

Hi, Nobles & Ladies,
Hello my fellow Nobles:
Hello Nobles!!
Well, the month of September is over and
your Temple had a very busy month. At
our First Friday Dinner, a group of Nobles
and their Ladies came up from Sarasota
and joined us for dinner. We had a good
time and showed them some good Shaddai hospitality. The Buccaneers held
their annual fish fry and if you missed it,
you missed a good one. Also, that same
weekend Shaddai had had an unexpected fund raiser out at Pier Park. PP
Joe and Lady Mae McAdam made some
phone calls and got enough Nobles to
work this 3 day event. Thank you to PP
Joe and Lady Mae and all the other Nobles for working and helping to make it a
success.
Today I give time to a Dear Friend of
mine, Noble Charles Tatum who always
was ready to see how far his Cable Tow
would reach.
He really was never giving up, always ready to give instruction to any Brother or Noble whenever or wherever. He had in his own
way a very merry heart; and could make
you crazy or amazed at whatever he
was doing or helping with at the time.
This brother of mine helped me and
many others on their way or to the place
they are in their walk at this time, me
being one of those many. This past
week I helped to give this man his final
ride to his place of rest until we all will
rise to the Heavens to meet our maker,
it was a fine Masonic Rite, hope we didn't mess up to much Charlie see you
later. Now as we press on at our beloved Shrine when you read this,
THUNDER
BEACH
WLLL
BE
OVER AND WE SHOULD BE IN THE
MIDDLE OF the GREG WILLIAMS
FUND RAISER OR THE FALL CERIMONIAL and headed into the CIRCUS. Hope to have seen or see lots
of ya'll at these events. We should really
stop and reflect on our purpose as Noble Shriners, as for me I enjoy the time I
spend with you, each and every one.
You make me feel liked, loved, useful
and alive seeing the end result of all our
gatherings, THE SMILE AND WARM
HUG OF A SHRINER CHILD MAKES
ME HUMBLE AND MORE DEDICATED. Come on out let’s get busy making
our Temple the best there is. We can
start this by all of us making Unit meetings, special meetings and Stated meeting we all have questions and input let’s
all get out there, become involved and
become informed. Until we meet again I
pray your safe keeping and happiness
be fully felt and when that time of our
meeting we can share all the good that
has happened in our lives, safe travels
and cool breezes.
Hard to believe September is already
here. Where has the time gone?
Your Divan made a trip to Carrabelle for
our official visit and had a fish dinner,
which was coordinated by Assistant Rabban and Lady Janice Jackson. Then we
held our Stated Meeting on September
19th. Our monthly dance on September
20th is only $5.00 a person. You need to
come out and support this activity. September 21st was our meeting for the
Cardboard Boat Race. On September
27th at 9:00 a.m. we got set up for a noon
event. I want to thank everyone who
came to help. For our first year doing
this event, I thought it went off well and
hope to do better next year.
Got to go now and get this sent in, so
let’s get to work making our Temple the
Best in Shrinedom.
With a happy heart your grateful
HP&P Mac
If you missed the Potentate's Ball, you
missed a beautiful evening. The Temple
was beautiful, delicious food, great music
- but I think the best part was just being
together, not only with Nobles and Ladies
from Shaddai but from other Temples.
What a wonderful time we all had!!
A few things coming up quickly for Shaddai - Thunder Beach is right around the
corner - October 1. Right after that, there
is the Annual Banquet that I host as a
fund raiser for Shaddai on October 9.
Nobles, I really appreciate all of your support in the past for this banquet and hope
to see you all at this one. We have a
wonderful meal and all kinds of things for
auction (a great way to get some early
Christmas shopping done!!). Then we
will have the Fall Ceremonial. If you
know of someone that would like to become a part of this great organization,
bring them in at the Ceremonial.
Nobles, I know we are all busy with life in
general. But take a minute each day to
say "Thanks" to the Man Upstairs for allowing us to do what we do for our children.
Till next time - God Bless You All!!!

Well, here we go into the fall of the year.
this is my favorite time of the year. we
have had some fine times recently. Th
buccaneer's fish fry, the spaghetti dinner
and what about the Cardboard Boat
Race? Now that was a hoot! Don't forget
about the Circus and Thunder Beach.
Get out and support the Shrine event.
It's a wonderful time to share fellowship
with fellow Shriners.
Here's a riddle for you:
A basket contains 5 apples. Do you know
how to divide them among 5 kids so that
each one has an apple and one apple
stays in the basket?

Clowns
Doug Bastendorf
Nobles and Ladies,
Well the year is under way and with the
circus and parades fast approaching the
clowns are getting ready. There are
many fun filled events planned and we
need each and everyone of you to show
your Shaddai Shrine pride. With the
Cardboard Boat Regatta coming up on
Sept. 27th, we hope to make a lot of
new friends and establish a new fund
raising event. Next month, we again
participate in Thunder Beach fund raiser
which is a big event that does very well
for us, our fall ceremonial and parade
and then the CIRCUS. Be a part of this,
thats all for now.

Doug (SNICKERS) Bastendorf

The weather forecast for October sounds
like a beautiful fall month to start doing
work outside. The Temple has a very
important Agenda for this month, we ask
that you mark your calendars and lets all
make a special effort to do our part in
making these Events a big success. The
following are what’s coming up; First Friday, October 3rd, Thunder Beach on October 3 & 4th, Fall Ceremonial on October
10th & 11th (Parade on Saturday 9:00
a.m. on beach), Dance on October 18th
and our Annual Circus on October 24, 25
& 26th at Frank Brown Park on the
Beach. These events/fundraisers are
very important. The Circus needs as
many nobles as possible to wear their
Fez and great people at the entrance at
all the shows.
Nobles, remember that Success seems
to be largely a matter of hanging on after
others have let go.
COLOR GUARD
By: Ken Hood
The Color Guard will be participating in
Temple activities and we ask all nobles to
join us. October is a very busy month and
brings all kinds of fundraisers to the forefront. Help and assistance is needed by everyone. Our Unit plans to help with these
events and I hope that your Unit will also.
You don’t need to be in a Unit to help
though; just let them know you are willing.
The only parade we have in October is the
Ceremonial Parade on the 11th. Line up at 8
and step off at 9:00 a.m.
Pull Tabs for
Shriner’s Hospitals
November and December will see us all busy
with parades.
The Color Guard is scheduled to work Bingo
in December. Unit members make your
plans now to work this event.
“You can either complain that rose bushes
have thorns – or rejoice that thorn bushes
have roses”.
Signing off until next time!
The Ladies of Agapa 155 started
collecting and donating aluminum
pull-tabs to the

SHADDAI
And a fine September morning to you all,
but you say, it’s October, yes but I’m writing
this in September and it has been a great day
so far.
Hey, we had a good meeting last night and
there were several present. Not like it should
be but better than a while. Made lots of
plans, took care of the “gun” situations,
planned for banner sales and discussed the
upcoming ceremonial. So there! Sorry you
missed it if you weren’t there.
I told the Staff about Willard Coram and his
wife, also about Don having to run back and
forth to Houston. Willard is very low and
“Don is most concerned about him. We just
need to pray for them and for my friend Noble Bob Kitchens who just got out of the hospital.
I don’t know how much you know about the
limitations Imperial has put on the treatment
of new Shrine Candidates and their initiations. But it is almost to the point of, “well
what can we do”? I’m sure there are those
who questioned some of the initiations process, but they will never forget becoming a
Shriner and the fact that it may have made a
better man out of them. It did for me, and
maybe I need to speak for myself.
I’ve heard some good fish stories lately and I
am not sure they are all true. I do know that
everyone says the fishing is good and the
“Staff” is going to have its first fishing contest this weekend. Hope it goes well. Could
be the first of many to come.
Well I don’t know any wild story to share
with you, maybe in November. Yes the year
is almost gone. Soon be time for Santa. I
love Santa. More later.
God Bless you real good, pray for each other
our KIDS and our Country!!
