OCTOBER 2014
PASTOR: RICHIE LOCKHART
Remarks from Bro. Richie
Have you ever considered that planting and growing a garden is a great opportunity to see the hand of God at
work? As planting time approaches we first prepare the soil. We break up the ground and row it up in preparation
to plant the seeds. We fertilize, water, weed, protect and care for those seeds throughout the growing season as
they transform into healthy plants that produce food for us and for others. In fact, one tiny seed will grow into a
plant that produces an abundance of food during the growing year. That in itself can be seen as a miracle from God
as we see the genius of His handiwork in designing one small seed to produce thousands of others seeds and an
abundance of food in the process. Such is the greatness of God seen in simply planting a seed.
In the same way that God designs seeds to grow, He does the same thing in the lives of humans. When the seed of
Christ is planted in our lives that seed begins to take root and grow. As we continue to learn more about Christ
through church, Sunday school, reading the Bible and praying, that seed eventually grows into our accepting Christ
as Lord and Savior of our lives. Though the rest of our lives, we continue to grow as we learn more and more
about Jesus and begin sharing that knowledge with others. Therefore, just as that seed in the garden grows and
produces food for many people, a Christian is designed to do the same thing. We are designed to share the good
news of Jesus with others by planting a seed in their lives; the seed of the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Have you ever considered where you would be today if someone had not introduced you to Christ and planted that
seed in your life? Your life could quite possibly be totally different than it is right now. With that in mind, think
about this; are there people in your life who don’t know Jesus? Are there people who have not had that seed planted in them? Where will they be if that seed is never planted in their lives? The outlook is not good. For those who
don’t know Christ, they are like a garden waiting to be planted. A seed planted by you will grow and produce seed
in their lives that will lead to others accepting Christ as Savior. A seed unplanted will mean a missed opportunity
for eternal life for them. Think about this; a garden tilled and ready to be planted is wasted if seed is not planted in
it. Every person who is not a Christian, who doesn’t go to church, who doesn’t know Christ,
is a garden waiting to be planted with the seed of the knowledge of Jesus Christ. If you
know someone like that, will you be the one to plant that seed in their lives?

Pastor

IT’S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE
YEAR!!!!!
Yes, it’s time to begin practice for our Christmas cantata. This
musical is a touching insight into the spirit of the season with a
blend of simple, but compelling drama with classic songs along
with new songs of the season.
The Dove-Award winning team of Sue Smith and Russell
Mauldin have this musical set in a small town square as the local
church gets ready for their annual Christmas presentation.
Through the eyes of the local street vendor, heart-felt stories are
told to communicate just what makes this Christmas so special.
Come join your choir as we worship in music and share laughter
learning new songs with Christian friends. The choir meets each
Sunday night at 5:30 p.m. in the
sanctuary.
